Me and a few friends are thinking of growing in one kid's attic. A staircase leads to his attack, where the main attic room is. A drop dow ladder leads up into a similar room. There is an opening in the wall about 4 feet tall, which leads down a hallway about 20 feet. Then you take a left, and after that, theres a heater/aircondition, which we can barely squeeze by. after that, theres about a 8x8x6 area where we were thinking of growing. One of the problems we may see, is the smell somehow getting into the airconditioner, and being spread throughout the house. Even if it didn't get into the ventilation system, could it stink so bad, that the other attic rooms, where people sometimes go (the 1st one) stink as well? Another problem we see is that there are no windows. Would a fan b enough to keep the air flowing and provide good ventalation.

yeah growing weed can really stink, especially in an attic area i'd guess ( i know my loft gets mad hot in the summer, which would just make the smell even worse! )

Also if you're using lamps in your attic you can get in trouble with the police. If they have an infra red camera on their helecopter/plane your house will stick out like a sore thumb and they may just pay you a visit when they have a spare moment.

I was thinking bout growing in an attic also with a phototron. Why do you say that the house would light up on an Infra red camera? Is it because of the heat off the lamps?I'm thinking with the Phototron being all fluorescent that this would not be the case. What do you think?

Yeah, the heat from the lamps goes straight through an uninsulated roof. Insulation in houses tends to be on the floor of the loft (rock wool). Rather than the roof itself.

Does a H.P.S. bulp produce a lot of heat compared to a Floro?Has anyone ever gotton busted in this forum from growing in an attic? What if you ran the lights in the light part of the day the most and had them off at night?(Keeping with the 18/6-12/12)Would that increase the chances of the boys seeing the heat or do they look during the day also for heat spots?

an attic is traditionall a horrible place to grow pot. pot thrives in temperatures below 80 degrees. the odor is also tremendous, and the infrared thing too. also if you live in a snowy climate, it will melt the snow off the roof right above the light. im not even going to go into the fire hazards of attic growing. a basement is definately the first choice. or a closet if you can be careful. never, ever grow pot without permission of the person who pays the bills.

The helicopter infrared bit sounds like a myth. What would they say when they went to obtain a warrent, "we were flying over houses spying on them with infrared cameras"? Besides, there are too many things in a house that are hot, like stoves, furnaces, computers, etc.

I almost have to agree with you "Colours".I have never heard of anyone getting busted from a cop with an infra red camera but it does sound possible.
