There are some Eastern philosophies that hold the view that our souls have *always* been, and always *will be.* It is thought that we have a choice of the bodies we inhabit and do so at the moment of conception. Our choice of bodies in which we incarnate is influenced by those lessons we must *still* learn during a lifetime....
(I think) Your soul is gathered first, but I don't think its a quick thing. Somehow you get made into [you]. Hard to explain. But good post!
i think the soul has always existed and will always exist. and 'physical' bodies are just one of the infinite 'vehicles' on the soul's perpetual journey in and of existence.
Put your eye back in. It's very unattractive that way. Personally, from my excursions on LSD, I believe the soul and the body to be two different organs, one to contact the psychological realm, and the other to contact the physical realm. I do remember walking home one night, up Pico Blvd in L.A., on acid, and having the distinct impression that I was not my body, but "I", my soul, was simply residing in my body for a time. I felt as if "I" were floating inside my body, but not permanently attached to it. The soul has influence on the body, and motivates it, but the two are not equivalent. But that seems obvious. Also, I do not believe that we are "all one soul", simply by birth. I believe souls can blend, and adopt some of the characteristics of other's souls, through time, and a kind of process, but this is not always possible with some. Through the passage of time, for instance, I believe that two can become one in several aspects, but there are ways in which two seeming incompatibles will perhaps always remain that way, though years have passed in close proximity. I'm not just talking out of my hat here. I've been married for 37 years to the same wife, and there are ways in which we will seemingly always be living in separate realities. So, I'm of the opinion that we each have individual souls, which at times can be blended, depending. Some can become one soul, or "like-souled". Others, perhaps not. HOWEVER; I do believe that there is yet another part of man, deeper still, that is a commonality, the human spirit, that is indeed the same in all, and a point of mutuality. I believe this organ to be deeper than the soul, and not identical, though the two are related closely. So basically, I'm a believer in what you might call a "tripartite man". Spirit, soul, and body. The spirit including such functions as the "conscience" and the "intuition", influencing the soul, which includes the mind, emotions, and will, influencing the body, the outward organ.
Thanks for that serious post. I found it really interesting. Your theory is a nice one, and I can relate to it. And I'm sorry... I'll put that eye back in now.
the spirit of god was breathed into adam and he became a living soul... so it seems that that soul existed god just breathed it into unconcious man
I agree. I believe there are fragments of soul, sort of experiences if you will...these float around in the aether. As one aligns ones physical existance to fit to a particular experience, then the experience can integrate into ones soul. What I really like the idea of is that we don't just go from this life to the next, we break apart into simplier segments of ourselves and they seek out where they might fit. the smaller they are the more there are but the quicker they reintegrate with reality
whoaaa thats deep. assuming we have souls, id say the soul comes first. & i didnt have a father. if i did, my life would have been totally different.
soul is there, but it get blown into you in the womb of your mother after a certain number of days in your fetal stage.... by angels. go take that dmt to find out more lol.
I heard a fascinating theory that the body/brain was like a radio receiver and the soul was like a transmission from somewhere else. I'm not sure how much I agree with it, because I sorta don't agree with dualism.. that is, that I don't really believe in souls exactly.. on the 3rd hand, I realized that it went well with reincarnation.. You can have the same perspective, the same "i think, therefore I am"-consciousness but no access to previous memories because they are physically recorded in the previous bodies. Just sorta makes sense. Of course, then I have to remind myself that just because something makes sense, doesn't make it true.
So whats happening here, are our carbon atoms just being transferred from one body to another? will that continue forever? cumon.. that doesn't make much sense. what about the Day of Judgement?Where we gana be judged according to our actions etc.. where the angels gana pull us from our forelocks, where groups of ppl gana be cast into hell... Oh yes, thats only if you believe in God right? But I guess in many of you, something as a God doesn't exsist.
We need not assume we have a soul, we can learn of ourselves. We can behold the depth and breadth of ourselves and in doing so we may discover that we are not divided. Yet to discover these things requires the suspension of belief, for belief occupies the space in you mind where knowing appears to be absent.
