I'm a photographer by trade, a hobbyist writer, and a beginner painter, but ,,, I must say I enjoy art. It's a passion. From music to digital imaging to pen and paper and poetry. I've been like this as long as I can remember. It isn't easy as an occupation, given the pack rat propensity to, and so a starving artist lifestyle I endure. Funds are low, my talent improving, my drive both stifled and momentumized … If I may use my poetic license with that term. Anyway, art as an occupation. Where to and how to and when will this occupation become less difficult?

    Anyone else face similar struggles?

How about the lifestyle that comes with it? I've had many many occupations over the years, and I enjoy the arts the most of them all. I guess because art is in and of itself, an act of creation. Like procreation, only different. It's a fun and pleasing occupation that doesn't even need be viewed as an occupation at all, but rather a lifestyle suited for some and not so much for others … just like everything else.

    Guess my point is...

If you are a real artist there is a never ending quest for improvement of your art. You never quite get to that peak where you are satisfied with what you create. Even if others think your work is genus, the artist thinks it's crap...

Sometimes, and other times it becomes, at least a single piece, a finished product. I would think it's a life long endeavor to create the entirety of. A series or collection that tie together, interwoven as a whole. The master piece so to speak would be the collection, not a piece of, so in that regard I view it like a persons life. A constant zeal and passion to improve upon what we already are.
