I'm so hopin someone can help! I used to draw and stuff all the time, took art in school as well. Since I've left I don't really draw at all any more. I always get inspired when I see other ppl's stuff, but I don't seem to be able to.... I dunno, find my own style of drawing. Does that make any sense? I always compare what I'm doin to what I see of other ppl's work and its startin to piss me off!!! Anyone got any advice on how to get the hell outta this funk?
Just keep going. Even if i don't really feel like drawing i do to get practice. When i compare it just pushes me to try harder. People's work that i admire i ask them for tip's. Know that everybody has there own style, you can never be exactly like anybody else's stuff, find your's and sharpen it. Sorry i dont have that great of advice, just hoping i can coach you to keep going hehe
Go Read one of you're favorite books, listen to some of you're favorite songs....and just reach into you're head grab a thought and create it
Sometimes the best inspiration i can find is to first dance, just to relieve any stress and then either start and go with out thinking, or think about anything you care about, an opinion or feeling (emotional or like a believe) and depict it in the first way it can come. Sketches have never really worked for me but sometimes just doodling can bring about greater ideas, personally i like to find anything with huge contrast and extenuate it or cross my eyes and it just makes me think. in comparing what you do to others, it becomes irrational to an extent because they aren't you and they're art does not describe an emotion you have it is there. It doesn't matter what the piece looks like more how it expresses you! (because if it means something to you then it is brilliant) And pardon if i was being to belaborical.
