I had my first ever art modeling gig today. WOW! It was weird. I was fairly nervous to begin with but by the end of an hour I was chillin. There were three artists doing sketches, two women and a guy. It was quite Surreal.
I got $50 which equals 1/8 of good reefer.

I've been going to life drawing classes for years now and really appreciate the contributions of the model - people don't always realise how hard it can be to hold a pose for any length of time, or to find an inspiring pose to begin with.

I hope our models aren't reading this though, I think the going rate is only about £10 an hour over here...

I've modeled for drawing classes a couple times now. I remember the first time I did it as a favor for a friend in the class. My knees were shaking so badly, my hands were sweaty, and I started to feel dizzy. Luckily it passed quickly. The first time is always sort of strange!

That's awesome. I did my first bare-all a few weeks ago with an artistic photographer and I agree-- it is an incredibly surreal (and liberating) experience. It made me feel really comfortable with my body.

It a truly wonderful experience. It allows you to become comfortable with your body and creates a sense of self acceptance.

One thing I won't do next time is drink a double espresso before the gig. As if I wasn't nervous enough without all that caffeine. I was a bit shaky to begin with which is not good when your supposed to be still.

My last modeling job was with a photographer about a year ago. I love doing it and have not problems with nerves. I'm always looking for the opportunity to pose.

I have been modeling for several years now. It was nerve racking at first, now it doesnt bother me at all. It is very liberating and gave me a new confidence I had never had.

That is awesome! Those artists really appreciate you. I know I do! I think the female figure is the most beautiful thing ever and when I got to finally draw it I was just so completely inspired, so in love with it. It is truly a beautiful thing to be able to show your body for art.. I think about doing it but I don't think I'm quite ready to do that, I'm still pretty young. I find my boyfriend gigs though, which he has yet to contact! But he loves being naked and I think getting paid for it is the best deal to him hah... I'm telling him though its not as easy as just sitting there, you have to come up with interesting poses and be still. I'm going to draw him actually and it will be good practice for the both of us.

Okay sorry for the rambling seriously....

I think I'd get a big hard on to begin with.....sort of an exhibitionist appeal to it...one of my friends told me of a male art model whom she had to draw in class who actually appeared to ejaculate during the session....?? Hmmm
Id like to model sometime, it'd be nice to meet some more artsy folks.

Interesting that most people posting here are women - I think guys are often put off nude modelling through fear of "male problems". There are some urban myths going round but in 15 years of life drawing I've never seen anything like that happening.

I would like to study fine arts (specifically visual arts) and would, at some point, like to model, however I think yoga will help tremendously with the maintenance of certain poses.
