some of my family members are serious peices of crap, i wish i had a family that i felt like it was a warm happy time. but no, just bad memories, and inner hatred.

family? what family? my 90 year old mom who lives six blocks away is more or less it. my wife and i walk the six blocks over there and usually order out when we do. she had three sisters, two of whome are still alive. they all had kids and grandkids of course but they all live on the east coast and we live on the left.

my wife's familly, well her dad, mom and stepmom are all gone too. she has a couple of brothers i've met. the one in santa cruiz, i'd just as soon not mention, the one in hawaii and his simi-wives are cool, but there all over there somewhere.

so family genraly is just wifie and i and mom.

i used to do the full stuffed turkey bit, and have some of the local baha'is who are here good friends over, but doing that got to be too much of a trip, plus our oven is on the fritz anymore. we do though, get the frozen pumpkin pies and the ready to oven turkey meat roasts and stuff like that, and of course the caned cranberry sauce and the gravy made with cream of mushroom, gravy mix and kitchen boquete.

some years we have ham. we haven't tried a veggi tnxgiving yet, but i'm seriously considering it. something like mushrooms and onions in the gravy with light cheese over a mix of long, brown and bizmatti rice sounds good for a meatless main course.

haven't really thought about that yet of this year with so many other things on my mind. we're hosting acention of abdu'l baha at our place at 1 am on the 28th. and on the ides of november i'm do for the follow on for my eye exam from when i got glassess. i hope we don't get conned into extra price exams and i absolute refuse to reschedule another for less then five years from now. this'll be the second year in a row we haven't been able to make furcon because of the cost of the damd eye exam.

not to mention, if more people knew the REAL origen of 'thanxgiving' i kind of doubt anyone with any kind of a consience, and not a right wing loonie, would be very enthused about 'celebrating' it.

    =^^=

this particular thanxgiving will be special for us........ my brother david, who lives in st louis, will be coming up for thanxgiving the first time in a few years..... and he is really excited about it too........ and it will be good for all of us, because this past summer he attempted suicide....... and now he is happier than ever....... he knows his family loves him.

I think I would really enjoy the holiday season a lot if I had a big family to be with. But, my family lives in a different country and we don't get along all that great even though I do go home for christmas. My boyfriend who I live with isn't a christmas person at all so there's no point in being festive with him either. Maybe one day when we have kids it'll be different and I can actually enjoy the holidays, wohooh.

my family hasn't celebrated a holiday in a few years, since my grandma started to get sick. so i'll probably just drive down to my parents house for a couple hours of conversation and a homecooked meal
