I relish the day when the whole system in which we live collapses. I may not be prepared but I have no-one to care for or consider. I may miss chocolate, TV and crisps but will celebrate my FREEEEEEDOMMMMM!!!!

    I really, really do.

I understand your point had more to do with rationalizing our consumer lifestyle but I hope for a total change, true anarchy indeed.

    The consumer society cant survive
    Am i ready?
Im not sure. I live rather simply (well compared to most in the UK) anyway. Our computer is the luxury, and i would miss it and its wonderful music if it had to go for any reason. Otherwise, we eat raw foods which we grow easily ourselves in pots in the yard for the most part! Im not keen on telly. Crisps etc arent in my diet anyway. No car. We dont buy unless we really need to and we get loads of stuff for free. We use leftover fruits to wash ourselves (citrus scented skin anyone?) and various plant oils to clean the house! We have a little rain water collector in the yard. Basically, were ecofreaks and we totally love living this way
I realise all this stuff is very little in the grand scheme of things and the kind of threats were facing, wed be forced to live a lot lighter than this even, and wed probably be VERY panicked and pretty lost like everyone else would. But its a small step towards living more simply anyway.

Somethings acoming though...and it aint lookin good! As has been said, i doubt anyone can be prepared

What stuns me is people are busy flying around the world making documentaries about it, watching it, talking about it, reading about it...yet so few are actually DOING anything about it in their lives. Just rushing on up towards it in a big herd with their blinkers on:rolleyes: Im probably being unfair and crabby. I mean its not like im changing the world or anything. Its late

Judging on the way our kids have completely metormorphed into little Damiens. What with their knives, pickaxes, chainsaws and samurai swords, aswell as the entire arsenal of guns in their pocket, affectively making the National defence look like the Berlin wall with a massive crack in the middle of it.
Parents are feckless, while their kids are wreckless. Drugs are continuing to circulate. It is quite scary to think that one day, these kids will be prime ministers, MPs, police officers, the Government.

The future is now and tomorrow is today. What happens now, affects tomorrow. When we discuss the concept of time, we see that actions create rippling affects like a stone being dropped into a pond. The epicentre is the disfunctional society. Will affect the time matrix and thus the future will become much much worse than this. To say the future would be flamingoed upwards, would be only half the truth. Infact it would have Emued upwards.

However, with awareness, comes hope. Therefore we shouldn't stop hoping for a better tomorrow. If each of us makes one act of random kindness. We can heal the world and make it a better place....for you and me.

Additional: Not all parents are feckless. Many try but give up too quickly. The Government don't help parents much anyway.
I always look at elderly people at dance balls. Recreating their era. Don't suppose that when we grow old, we will have the Naughties recreated for us? I can just see us elderly dancing to Jay z and james Blunt.

Should we prepare for the future? That is the question. Prepare for each day and then tomorrow will come.

you kids today don't know you're born.

In my day we had to worry about fossil fuel depletion, the coming Ice Age AND global thermo-nuclear war.

Kids had respect and parents were not criminalised for using the cane. Those were the days when the teacher could yank their students by their ears and discipline them till their asses were red.

When Britain dropped the cane, our future would become a cursed one. An unrully one, anarchy. The term, "Young ones". Has never been so apt in the 21st century.
We do face nuclear war. Iran.

I have no plans to sow the seed. If I sow the seed, I must nurture it. I would fail.

Additional: Thought you may be interested in that i have started a thread about HELL. philosophy and religion section. main page.

Except that Iran doesn't actually have nuclear weapons as yet, whereas the "superpowers" as they liked to call themselves had enough to destroy the world several times over. (I don't know what they planned to use the rest of them for - Mars perhaps?)
