Are you close with your cousins?

I remember as kids, my cousins and I were inseperable. We'd have family parties for everyone's birthday and hang out all the time in the summers. I don't know what happened but once we were teenagers, that didn't happen anymore and our family just sort of stopped talking.

I ran into one of my favorite cousins on myspace recently and he said he hated the fact that we lost touch so many years ago and wished it would have been different. He just had a baby two weeks ago and I didn't even find out that his wife was pregnant until...well...two weeks ago when I find out she had the baby! I miss him...and didn't really realize it until I got in contact with him again.

So are you close with your cousins?

 

On my mothers side not very close. My dad's side, extremely close. One in particular, he's not even my cousin man we're brothers. I would die for him.

 

i was only close to one. he died last summer. i still can't delete his email address. isn't that funny? sonny. my boy. crazy fucker. he just ... well, was sonny.

 

Not particularly, but closer than some since I only have 3.

 

I have A LOT of cousins.
I am very close with some of the ones on my moms side. Some are as close as my siblings are.

 

I don't have many cousins but we used to be closer and see each other every summer

They don't live anywhere near me now and no one ever plans any get togethers

 

The same thing happened to me recently but at a funeral. I didn’t even recognize my cousins who I was so close to while growing up.


It was a surreal experience until we started talking about our childhood experiences together, and those long summers on cape cod.

Then the recognition, the remembered love, and warmth returned in a rush

I used to be really close to one of my cousins. She even moved in with me and we shared a room. If we were apart for even just a day we would stay up all night when we would see each other next just talking. She hates me now and I don't care.

 

only close with 1 really. i'll do anything for her though. we've gotten much closer as we got older...i hated the fact and still do that she babysat me haha

 

yeah me and my cousin grew up like brothers but we lost touch when he went to college. The coolest guy is my friends Javier's cousin he is like me when im drunk but even 10 times more extreme even when sober. Example "Hey bitch i like that ass!" to some random girl who walks by, just the cockiest fucker alive.

 

me and my cousin were very tight until like 2 years ago. We still play music together sometimes thats about it.

 

I've moved around too much to really get to know them that well. The few I hung out with when I was 11 or 12 tuned into tools later on in life. No regrets.

 

This thread makes me sad. I used to be close with a lot of my cousins and now I barely even talk to them. Life just gets in the way after a certain point and it's not possible to stay in touch with everybody the way we would like to.

One of my cousins was one of my best friends in the entire world and now, though I see him more than any other, I feel as if I don't really know who he is since we fell out for so long.

 

i was only ever close to sonny. loads of cousins crawling all over the place, though. they're just annoying. sonny, though, he was challenging and awesome. we just connected somehow. i'm still super close to his mom. the only aunt i really give two squirts of piss about. she's a firecracker, man. a living, breathing ode to the fiesty redhead.

the one half older sister, half best friend... well, thats the best way i can describe our relationship at least. shes a shitload of fun, a year older than me, were graduating from uni together too which is damn cool. she got married a couple summers ago, i was her maid of honour. shell be mine when i get hitched too, its just gotta be her

i rarely talk to my cousins on my dad's side.
on my mom's side though, we are a lot closer, though not as close as we used to be when we were kids.

 

i didn't really grow up anywhere near my cousins for the most part. i was never close to much of my extended family, but there were a few cousins i was kind of close to, namely the 4 around my age. of those 4, one was only family through marriage and the subsequent divorce made him no longer family, one became a bitch, one's dead, and one (the only one that i was really close to) has always lived at least 9 hours away, so as we grew up it became harder to ever see each other and we eventually just grew apart.

 

some of my cousins are conservitive christians, I told them I was a muslim radical... I havent heard from them in years...

 

I was close to my cousin Jon. We were like brothers when we were growing up. He was the first person I smoked weed with and we did pretty much everything together when we were younger. We hardly see eachother now, as we both have too much shit going on. He's married now and works 50+ hours per week and I'm trying to find work and keep up with probation fines and a whole bunch of bullshit that keeps us from seeing eachother. It really is sad. I'd still take a bullet for that mofugga though. Shit, I'd probably even go to Hell for him, if it meant keeping him from going, because he's one of the best people I know. We're still close in the sense that we got a lot of love for eachother, but we have grown apart, socially.
