Are we getting dumber?

Do you think humans are getting dumber or smarter or about the same as years go on? just a late night boredom question...

 

Define "smart".

We have always been pretty dumb as a whole, but we are more educated and more aware as individuals in this modern day.

 

often humans are compared to monkeys, but i think humans are often dumber than monkeys because at least they can teach monkeys sign language

 

the synchronicity of life astounds me at times, i was thinking about this earlier today

I think we have to relearn the same lessons always. Every generation. We may just think we're smarter since we have more history to reference.

 

Well I'd say the average person these days knows more than the average person one thousand years ago. but that could come down to just education/access to information rather than "being smart"

 

I think education an smartnes are diffrent things. And no people aren't getting dumber or smarter

 

Humans get smarter considering the developments in technology... Technology evolves as the years go by. But they also get or remain silly if you consider traffic accidents, for instance, or drinking too much, or risking their own health...

 

i feel the powers that be are bending over backwards to see to it that society as a whole is dumbed down.

not necessarily in a education sense,more in the ability to think for yourself logically.

 

I dont think the fact we have more technical knowledge makes us smarter than our predecessors.

 

neither one. not at a rate nor on a time scale such as even a millinium would be long enough to notice.

there are dangerous problems with the collective values of the dominant culture, but they are not driven by, nor an indication of, detectable levels of average human intelligence.

is you dumb?

 

Yes. Again the man tells the truth.

We're only going to be as smart as we need to be to get by. Collectively our brains are atrophying from disuse.

 

We are forced to cater to to a society of idiots. We lost instincts through the evolution of man gaining structures to live in, weapons to hunt with ect and now we are slowly being ripped of our last abiltity "Common Sense" Leave you with no survival instincts or common sense and what are we?

When society decided to start having to warn over the obvious, allow others to profit for thier ignorance and when natural selection of loosing those idiots so they could not breed we lost a chance to have a species capable of more than being sheep.

 

i think we're pretty stagnant as a whole. no smarter, no dumber. just more stuff...

 

intelligence has nothing to do with knowledge.

I think there's more evolved people and people who are less evolved. but it doesn't mean knowledge or technology to me.
