When I was a kid I told my sister that I could probably walk an ant's mile. She informed me that a mile is a mile and there was no such thing as an ant's mile. We still don't get along or see eye to eye.
No, ants are better organized so it seems If you would look from high above upon some busy highways or a city centre I'm sure it would look similar as an ant colony with all those moving people all on their way but in reality we are not aware or concerned with all those other people doing their thing unrelated from your own thing. It seems very different with ants, they are all busy with their community working on the same goal.
We are certainly tiny compared to the grant scheme of things... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fKBhvDjuy0"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fKBhvDjuy0 But the cool thing of it is, we are all connected, we are all made of stardust, and we are all a part of the universe.
a hive mind sort of mentality is different from a community though, its like a form of order which is an expression of a collective unconscious, so each individual ant is propably as insular and unaware of the actions of other ants as we are, and yet a cohesive whole, or the strong appearance of one, is achieved, and intelligence increases with colony size even though each individual ant's intelligence remains the same, and very low. its a really fascinating phenomenon.
