Are there any occupations/professions that you violently dislike, so much that..

so much so, that you will avoid all, or just a substantial proportion of people in that occupation?

A lot of jobs have a "typical employee". I mean priests and drug dealers don't tend to be the same sort (Banco Ambrosiano excepted).

I find certain jobs attract certain types. Or the occupation causes people to change their character in some way.

Generally, I won't avoid someone because of the job they do. However, in some subdivions of a certain occupation, I might not want to associate with a person, because I know what sort of mindset they have.

Certain occupations I am suspicious of/might avoid:-
    barristers (legal not coffee baristas!)
    cops
private/retail bankers, and anyone involved in fraud vs the public
    certain countries soldiers.

So do you/have you ever avoided someone because of their employment?

Can't think of any particular profession. I guess I won't hold it against people I don't know (yet) anyway. Yes, I would avoid certain countries' soldiers, but only out of self preservation :p

No, only people I know or have a reputation. Not that I look up criminal drug dealers by the way. But I don't avoid them mainly because I rigidly dislike their profession. Illegal only means forbidden by a certain country's government anyway and is not always despicable by default.

Well they don't really say Oh I am a drug dealer, or I am in human trafficking, when you ask them what they do for a living.

Human trafficking is a good one by the way.

No, but its sometimes not that hard to work out.
They might say "oh I'm in import-export (cough cough)".
Or "well I'm sort of connected to the leisure business and run a debt collection company".

I am already nuancing my first thought on it again. But I definately dislike those traffickers that cross the mediterranean sea in a rusty boat with far too much desperate africans. It's no exception at all that the freaking thing sinks and lots of people die... The guys in charge already cashed in of course.

Yeah, forcing people in such a profession they didn't ask for is always despicable of course. That's why it is easy to hate and shit on all human traffickers and it seemed a really good example of what the OP was talking about at first instance. I think it still is a good example in most cases :p

Wow, you dislike every person that somehow 'earned' the title of professor or doctor by default? That seems insane.

Yes. And I am sure human traffickers have friends who don't know what is their real job.
The point is....you don't know who these criminals are, and import/export is not enough to know.
If someone told me they were in import/export business, I would probably ask a few more questions, and believe it. Maybe they are telling the truth, one cannot know for sure.
But of course, most sane people wouldn't be friends with traffickers or I don't know...contract killers, but you don't know who they are.

Maybe I know a person who would consider becoming a contract killer but happily I don't see others hiring him :D

I think he's overly generalizing. No biggie.

Maybe he doesn't have need for any doctor. Still though, disliking everyone who happens to be one by default seems kind of misanthropic.
