think that the use of lsd has made them a better/more creative musician. i feel like acid helped me become the drummer i am today....i though of so many fills while tripping on acid its crazy. not only that but i feel like i play better when im tripping too....i dropped acid before a few of my bands shows and i felt like i fuckin jammed better then ever at those shows. the only problem is i always want to just fuckin let loose and start soloing lol.

Yea, I play classical guitar and steel string mainly. I would even say that every drug I've consumed has made me a better musician, however that doesnt mean it's true  Who knows, it's definitley helped me understand my interest and explore my 'creativity' (sorry I hate that word), but at the same time, I know what I like and I like what I know.
But I mean, listen to Lightning Bolt's or Hella's drummer, and tell me they havent eaten LSD :D

i know what you mean about wanting to let loose and solo. when I was drumming in a band i wanted to solo so bad that by the time came for my solo, I put all this extra energy into it, and I played like I never had before, but a coupla times I overexerted myself and puked. the first time it was onstage at a small club and I puked while keeping a basic beat. Not many people even knew I had puked. the second time I puked after soloing was at a house party and I signalled for another drummer to come fill in for me impromptu so I could puke on the lawn. I think he resented that because he wasn't terribly good.

That was way before I had lsd. I smoked herb, but I found I could play the best with no drug at all. I should get another kit and try it on 'cid or after 'cid

lsd has definitely helped my music and creativity. my guitar, vocals, lyrics, bass and drums have lsd to thank. i would not be half as good as i am without lsd. music is about being in the moment and lsd can help you let go of distractions while you feel and let the music flow through you. the greatest musicians of all time used lsd!

The peek or lsd usage was in the latter 1/2 of the 60's and some of the most enduring music the world will ever see is by psychedelic drug using musicians/bands such as The Door, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix and maaaaany more. their music was so out there and creative. In comparison 99% of todays music is utter and complete shite as the prefered drugs are coke, heroin and other drugs that numb your mind and kill your body. lsd and other psychedelics expand your awareness and open your mind and as a result inspires musicians and artists to be more creative.

I would have to say that having the experience of tripping gives you sight of the possibilities you have in music. In my past i have tripped and played and tripped and not played, and I think my drumming ideas and my general life ideas have definitely been affected.

I play bass, guitar, and piano.

LSD has most definitely made me a better musician. I understand and connect with music on an entirely different level now. Jamming while tripping is amazing, playing bass (my main instrument) now is almost like tripping. it brings me onto another plain. I am currently writing a song by my self (have to use a key board for drums, to broke to buy a set) that a trip has inspired. LSD is great with music and is the artists drug.

i used to be friends with this awesome drummer who always aspired to learn new things and play differently. naturally we fit right together and would jam every weekend. there was this one weekend where a girl i knew hooked me up with a couple of tbs with grateful dead bears on them (this was years ago) and i went over to the drummer's house to jam while i was peaking but he was having a party, so i took off for awhile and hung out on a golf course and just tripped out on the surroundings.

i went back in a couple hours and everyone was gone and i gave my drummer friend my last hit. that was the only time we ever recorded anything we jammed on, and it was a horrible horrible recording (done with the built-in mic on a crappy tape recorder) but it was the best i ever played. i played so smoothly and naturally and even though i remembered how to play pretty much everything i did that night..i've never been able to make it sound the way it sounded on that recording.

so yeah..i think lsd definitely has an impact on musicianship..plus it's opened my ears to sound..i don't exactly know how to put that. sorry.

lsd did not make me a better musician... hard work and practice did. but i have used a lot of the extra energy lsd has given me to create music and learn more about my instruments. I have spend many a trip...well most of my trips with my instruments and have consequently gotten better. I mean, if you are spun and have all that extra energy why not make music for 8 hours straight?

agreed aliced, although i do feel like creativity is more natural on cid. when i was in a band we would drop and record what ever we would play. because we were so messed up to play well. we would go back and listen to and clean up what we played after sobering up. while it doesnt make you better, music came more naturally.

for sure... LSD does make it easier to jam with other people. If you're jammin with others who are tripping a musical motion can be made and built off of with out words... you know what notes the others are about to play because it just makes sense. I love jammin with random heads at festivals... play shit I have never heard before or progessions that would have never crossed my mind. And it sounds great... most of the time

I recently got into drum jams (djembe, cajon, bongos, congos) from jammin at festivals... I love music, it has taken me pLaceS I never thought I woulD be.

i am looking for psychedelic musicians to put a project together. looking for a drummer, bass player, guitarist and possibly keys, with myself on vocals. like some of you have pointed out that playing music without psychedelic drugs is just as important as what tripping can do for your music. i am looking for musicians who are into psychedelic drugs as we will trip together maybe once a month at most using primarily lsd and dmt with a little shrooms thrown in for good measure. it is very difficult to find talented musicians now a days who are into psychedelic drugs as someone has already pointed out most of them are into coke and booze among other things. i live in toronto which is the best city to start a huge band in canada and i am not willing to move to the states for obvious drug law reasons. if anyone knows any talented musicians who use psychedelic drugs on occasion let me know, or if you have any ideas please share them with me. i have big dreams and when i find these people this will be one of the best bands of all time – something definitely worth relocating for any musician. i will consider moving to another canadian city but there would have to be a very good reason.

take these bands listed in order of priority and meld them all into one… and of course the band will be something completely different and new as we find our own unique sound!

the beatles, moe., tool, faith no more, pink floyd, bob marley, led zeppelin, nine inch nails, sublime, jimi hendrix, a perfect circle, the string cheese incident, marilyn manson, nirvana, foo fighters, aerosmith, ratdog/grateful dead, alice in chains,

at least that is what i envision. i want to remain as open as possible as the other musicians might bring something to the table that i did not expect or think of.

thanx for asking, important information that i should have included in my post.

    3xi,

man, I wish I could. I've been wanting to start a band with musicians who use psychedelics. And the sound you say your going for is the same as mine. but unfortunately the people around my area only want to start death metal bands...or emo. and not many people around my area use psychedelics (at least, not that i know of.) I would love to move to toronto and join in, but unfortunatly age causes a problem. hope you do get one started, we need more great bands out there.

Apparently Cananda has a descent music scene going on. I know as far as Philadelphia goes, it's typically underground hiphop (which I prefer, but realize many of you probably dont), punk, and indie/noise rock type stuff. Id actually love to go all out with intrumental noise rock, Id say bands like Lightning Bolt and Hella are about as close to God as you can get (in an LSD overload, extremely intense energetic way) and I love the feeling of having my head explode from sound alone, but many of the kids around here are playing the same thing and it's getting very repetivite and uninspiring. The one band I know who does instrumental noise rock live 30 minutes from me but are always busy and being a father and having no drivers liscence for the next 3 years, I dont have much chances to jam anymore. Here's a link to their sound if anyone's interested :) http://www.myspace.com/qwirk
