    Are Americans Psychopaths?

Actually, 'sociopaths'. Multiple generations have been raised within a Randian cult of "rugged individualism" that demonizes empathy as weakness and community as Socialism.
It's an antisocial personality disorder on a national scale.

I think there is some truth in cultural stereotypes but is not an absolute truth. I have never visited the USA but I get the impression that what you saying is applies more to landlocked states than coastal states. Also, if you have too much empathy for people you deal with in certain occupations such as - firefighter, nurse, paramedic, lawyer, policeman, news reporter -you just end up a nervous wreck.

I wouldn't say so: The people in power, sure, but that's probably true for most countries.

The fact that we are still talking about Covid is proof. WTF is wrong with these idiots? We've solved the problem months ago and yet there are still millions of idiots out there willing to serve as petri dishes for the next mutation. Imagine if this lunacy had existed when the vaccines for polio, small pox and the measles were developed; they'd still be running rampant today.

Egoist individualist mindset isn't unique to America either. One of these days I was reading a book about people's lives during the fall of the soviet union, and you had this phenomenon happening all over the place.

Suddenly, everything became the "law of the jungle". The average russian, tired of their 'grey soviet years', pushed their country (unkowingly) towards a wild capitalism that eclipsed the one in the US in it's ferocity, at least during the 90's.

Even though the privatization process was done somewhat right, with ex-Soviet industry stocks being given to the people instead of big government honchos like in 80's Mexico, most people were unable to grasp the true value of what they had been given and the stocks soon found their way into the hands of an opportunist few... soon to become the new russian oligarchy.

If empathy is weakness (=bad), and community is socialism ......... what does that imply / accuse Jesus and the early Christians of?? (for all the self-righteous "Christian" Bible-thumpers) The Apostles and earliest Christians shared everything - food, money, shelter - as community. There ARE Scripture passages about that.

For those self-righteous "Christian" Bible-thumpers - where in the Bible does Jesus scream at, threaten, harass, assault, force, or shoot at anyone who didn't want to follow Him?? Agree with Him?? Point it out.

So if Jesus Himself didn't act that way ........ why do you think YOU can - and still claim you're a "good Christian" and follower of / believer in Jesus ??? Did HE teach people to behave that way???????????

Right back at ya. No one - or no country - can stay "at the top" without self-reflection and constructive self-criticism.
