What are your favorites? Lately I have been getting these apples which are fucking awesome, called 'Pink Lady Apples'. They are very crisp and crunchy, and have the best sweet-to-tart ratio I have ever tasted in an apple. I am addicted to these.
macintosh... But they don't taste as good as when growing up in New York State. Most of those were locally grown.
I agree. They are hard to find around here. I never did like "delicious" apples. I do like the Granny Smith ones though. :2thumbsup:
There are hundreds of varieties but I think I’ll go with Golden Delicious :2thumbsup: http://www.newenglandapples.org/AppleVarieties-id-37.html Hotwater
We always Honey Crisp, Fuji, and Granny Smith in the fruit bowl. I use a lot of Granny Smith apples in the juicer.
Granny smiths. They keep for a long time, and don't bruise as easily as some. We like the taste as well, I don't like my apples too sweet. We do pick macintosh in the fall and do a ton of baking with them, but my kids prefer the grannies in their lunches.
Hello, I like the ones best that I 'borrow' from my neighbours' gardens . I don't think that they have a fancy name. Regards Gyro
Growing up we had an apple tree in our backyard :2thumbsup: 2o years ago a severe ice storm came along and completely obliterated it hotwater
The best apple I've tasted was a Gravenstein apple just outside of Sebastopol in the Russian River area of Sonoma County Ca. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/02/us/02apples.html http://www.orangepippin.com/apples/gravenstein
pink ladies are quite good so are honey crisp - they were raging about them at a apple picking place i went to. also good: gala, fuji, and cortland i absolutely hate red delicious i grew up with a small apple orchard, though i don't know the exact type they were...i knew which tree tasted best we used to press apple cider
the best were of course the mystery apples that came off my parents' trees. i don't think there's a kind i don't like, although i usually buy galas. i was doing red delicious for a long time, but then i got a batch where they all looked fine but all were brown and slightly squishy once you bit into them, and i haven't been able to make myself eat one since.
i thought i disliked mcintosh too, because ones at the store are usually soft. then i had a "real" mcintosh and realized it was delicious.
ill be totally honest.. I dont eat apple. they burn to fast in me belly.. Ill have a sugar crash and feel like Im starving to death after eating some apples.
