Aphex Twin... random thought about

ive listened to a lot of electronic music through 9 years and my god, why do so many people think aphex twin are really good or something special?

i have never seen anything new in them.

any thoughts?

If I write something down, and someone else reads it and finds a new conclusion from it... can I take some credit for that?

Even though I used to make the stuff (and believe me, it's the easiest music in the world to make) just about any electronika gets on my nerves after a while.

richard d. james is aphex twin. i love him. i'm going to go all lame mainstream and just say that four is my favorite track.

 

yeah almost all electronia gets on my nerves anymore and i have my experience with mixing (spinning) and produced a little....

i hate it anymore and i hate aphex twin. im just tired of people acting like they are something special. makes me sick.

 

Its really easy to make simplistic electronic music, and really easy to make crap repetitive rock. The diffeence is many trance and drum'n'bass producers work on something origianl while 99% of rock is three freaking chords with some whining in the background.

 

yeah. a lot of music you either like or don't. i like aphex twin. i think a lot of the sounds he gets into his music are fucking cool. but it's not the sort of thing you can sit back with a beer and chill to.

i can give dnb some props though... my name did used to be "dnbgurl" on here. i can apprieciatte certain producers and a few djs. but really, after a while, most is disposable and a bunch of crap.

 

i pretty much despise most electronic music with singers. and straight dance and much dnb makes me wanna go on a killing spree.

 

Nah, I'm not too big on 'em. Aphex Twin brought something really fresh to the drum'n'bass scene, guys pretty much a staple of mid 90's drum'n'bass.

 

Aphex Twin is a genius. It's so easy to get lost in his music.

So what do you like in the realm of electronica from the past decade, Trish?

 

If you'd actually listen to Aphex Twin's work, you'd see that it is some of the most complex and textural electronic music ever made. The guy is a creative genius. He's been making music since he was 15.

 

some of his stuff makes my brain feel like it's doing cartwheels. i love it.

ive heard a lot of aphex twin and think it's mediocre at best.

honestly, i dont like a lot of electronic but i still like ltj bukem, most of kosheen, dieselboy (esp. the stuff he produces and not spins), some of dara, dj krust is sometimes good if the mood is right, used to really dig reidspeed, few tracks produced by julius pap, dj hype is good, dj funk (haha, gotta love the funky house every now n then)

and i could go on but really im not into that music and i havent seen anything special with aphex twin even though there are albums here and ive heard him many times.

 

What the hell? How could you even compare Aphex Twin with genres like trance and dnb. It was'nt that long ago when people could'nt even figure out how to make sounds like rdj can. In fact, most producers now can't even come close to a lame ass excuse for a rdj ripoff. RDJ is a programmer. Alot of his sounds invole hours of programming in addition to the hell that is manually making those beats. Not only that, but almost every aphex twin album I own has been completely different from the last one. Maybe if you'd listen to more than the shit you d/l on kazaa you'd hear something different. The man is a fucking god send.
