I've read that it isn't a good idea to take over 1000mg of APAP at one time. How long would it be safe to wait after a dose of 1000mg to re-dose?

About 4-6 hours. and try not to exceed 4000mg in 24 hours. Or you could try to avoid stressing your liver out at all and try to score single-product entities =)

Right on, I was asking because I was prescribed Lortab 7.5 for severe back pain and two doesn't do the job. I didn't want to do more harm then good by taking 3 which would have been 1500mg of APAP all at once. I go for a checkup soon and plan on asking for something a little stronger but until then I will have to have the 7.5's make due.

Cold water extraction. You'll lose some of the hydrocodone though. APAP is water soluble, while hydrocodone is not. I'm not sure if it's that simple though. Don't use opiates much, let alone in pill form.

I've read about that 'cold water extraction' but I've never tried. I never found it to be that important to go through all the trouble.

And thanks for the good wishes, Penny. I hope I can find something to control the nerve pain. I just started REAL treatment after years of suffering with this condition and the muscle spams are under control but my nerve damage is pretty bad and still causes me alot of pain. I thought it a little absurd that the doc put me on only 7.5's but like I said this is only the begining and there is still a long road ahead.
