It was on in the late 80s-early 90s. The best frickin show they ever put on. It had Peter Noone hosting(aka Herman's Hermit) and they showed a bunch of great music from the 50s 60s 70s.

A lot of what I listen to now, and my musical tastes have been influenced by this show. Just wondering if anyone else remembers it?

I remember one of the opening shows, Peter said that his manager told him they "had to go to the Cavern Club to see this black guy from America".
The black guy was Jimi Hendrix, after the show, Peter said I better find a new career.
    Oh ya I remember.
Do you remember when VH1 came out. Their one liner I remember was " music for the generation who took acid to get it all together, who now takes ant-acid to keep it all together".
    Thats me, extra-strength Tums.......

Forgot about that one. I still have some of the tapes of it. VH1 was a good 60s and 70s channel but that was about 10 years ago and more.

oh yeah! that was my generation! Adam Curry and all his glorious hair and 120 Minutes and Headbanger's Ball......remember it all too well.

I know VH1 has a classic channel, but it's only available on satellite or whatever. Can't get it out here on the beach.......

VH1 classic doesn't have much of the 60s or 70s anymore. And when they do, the footage is usually tied in with someone plugging his new book or video. Or, the reunion concert tickets are tied in with how much you spend at Best Buy (they did a thing like that for the Sting reunion concert). Too much sordid commercialism for me.

Yeah, it really is a bummer these last 10 years or so...no..try 18 years...that 'music channels' have NO MUSIC on them!

MTV- vapid 'reality' show crap...and commericals galore.
VH1- Loads of ads, more 'documentaries' then actual playing of music videos..

I remember 'My Generation' very well with Peter Noone. I LOVED this show. It seriously introduced me to some of that earlier music from the 60s. You have to remember that back then, YouTube, the Internet, and online search sources were not around for young people to dig through and discover the 'oldies' on their own. Thank the Gods for this show...and others in good taste like it- it helped bring the classic stuff from the past to new ears.

I loved this show ( had to say it again...i love it!!)

So happy to see it mentioned.

    :)

Wow. Yeah, actually I *do* remember that show. But this is the first time I've even thought about it in probably 15 years.
