I would prefer sex with another person if that were available. But my wife and I are aging, and her sex drive has just about evaporated. That's funny. I think masturbation is for sensation and satisfaction, sex is more for emotional connection. Masturbation it the only thing I do 100% just for myself. Sometimes, yeah, I do like the simplicity of it and its on demand feature better.

I have to admit that I get more in enjoyment out of satisfying myself than having sex with my wife anymore. I can spend hours and sometimes even all day edging until I finally let myself go. Yes and no, mostly no I think. The intimacy and enjoyment of sex is pretty awesome if you have it, can get it. So many times I prefer that, and will not masturbate to interfere with sex. I can't say I have ever chose not to have sex so i can enjoy a masturbation session more. However sometimes I prefer to masturbate. Indeed the orgasm and feeling is superior to sex, not even really that close. Also I enjoy masturbating while being watched...so I want that sometimes as well.
I also prefer female contact but masturbation is the only sex I get. My wife also has medical issues and not interested in any type of sex.
