    Heya,

Can anyone recommend a recipe for a solution to spray onto you dreads to aide locking?..

I've heard of people using salt solutions, but have no idea of the concentration. I was also thinking these could really dry out your scalp and hair, especially if you're not washing very often. Has anyone made say a solution from aloe vera plant?

any thoughts/suggestions would be much apprecaited :)

    peace..

If you happen to live near the ocean/sea then just go swimming and dunk your head in and let it dry in the sun. Thats by far the best way. If you don't like me then this is what I do......

I personally just use sea salt with warm water. Just sea salt mind, no other types of salt. Thats if I can be bothered, I don't do it on a regular basis, just if I feel like it really, then again my dreads are quite old by now.

As far as quantities goes thats something I think you have to work out yourself really. Everyone's hair is different. I certainly don't measure I just pour some into a spray bottle then add warm water and shake it up until it disolves. As a very rough guide maybe a couple of table spoons (sorry I'm english, I hope that measurement makes sense!) I'm just guessing here as to what I personally put in. I reckon it would be about that much though. Basically if you do it and your hair feels too dry then use a little less next time, you'll figure it out through trial and error! You're not going to kill your hair if you use a little too much one time thats for sure. Just don't overdo it in terms of use and quantity.

As far as aloe goes unless your dreads are totally mature I wouldn't bother with it. I've considered using aloe as my dreads are quite dry but to be honest I don't really care, and I like them how they feel, I don't think they really need it.

Lemon juice will just bleach your hair it won't do anything for the locking process. If you want your hair lighter then go ahead and use it

Also one last thing sea salt solution will help but won't work wonders. Time and patience are your best friend....

I made up some locking solution and the only thing I noticed was that it completely destroys your scalp, wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Just try to keep it away from your scalp, even if some does get on your scalp it shouldn't do that much harm, just itch for a little bit, but hey thats just how it is for me, everyone's different.

I just spray it on, or dunk it on.
Like Merrivale said, the sea is awesome for locking up.
I dont care what people say about the locking solution It helps so much, especially the salt, there is no better solution than it.
Yes its down to patience but DAMN it will help so much :)

I usually wash with a concoction of baking soda, sea salt, and some tea tree oil, and rinse with vinegar. It seems to lock them up pretty well.

i heaps dunnno if this is a good thing but i have tried my own solution and it seems to be workin.

it includes bi-carb soda lemon juice and salt, when u first put it in the spray bottle add warm water to dissolve everything.

the only down side is tht i have been through 6 or 7 hair spray bottles so yeah have fun!
