Hey, I've been in CT for nearly 4 years...I've lived in several cities around the country and have always had an easy time meeting new people. This is the first time it's been difficult for me to meet new friends. Not dating, but meeting friends. Everyone seems to know eachother here. I find that most people are comfortable with their circle of friends and don't make room easily for new people. Anyone experiencing this? Anyone up for starting a newcomers group for people who like cultural outings, dinner parties, or just beer and chips at a local joint?
I know how you feel. I moved up to Massachusetts almost 4 1/2 years ago and have been miserable since. Like yourself, I have lived all over the country and have found the Boston area to be the toughest area to make a social life for myself. I know what you mean by how the people are just fine with thier little circle of friends. Luckily work hasn't been an issue, because I have noticed that the job market really sucks around here, but my social life has been damn near non existant. I'm seriously gearing up to move back down to Philly so I can at least have some interaction with others, haha!! Even my friends that come up and visit ask how I can stand it up here. I hope you find some like minded people to chill with, I know how lonely it can get. Peace...
I was up in Boston for a while - even that was better than central ct. It's beautiful here for sure and I keep busy but breaking into a group that goes out socially is nearly impossible. Boston can be fun if you like to take classes - they have a class for everything there and the people who go out for those tend to be very friendly. Dog walkers groups, runners, and young families do well there too. If you fall into any of those categories try the Arnold Arboretum just south of JP in Roslindale. I met lots of nice people there. Good luck socializing.
Jesus Christ, Stick, you're beautiful, how is it you find it difficult to find a circle of friends? I guess that came off kinda shallow of me...but hell I'd make the drive from NYC to have beer & chips with you...and talk about some books or classic movies or...whatever....
Hey there! I agree completely, I moved here from MA and have had a hard time meeting people. Hit me up, I'm always looking for new friends
yea.. I would def. say connecticut sucks. I'm waiting for the springtime to get out and travel and find that better place to live, cuz here aint it!!!!!
I loooove to meet new people. I currently live in CT and am quite possibly moving away in the fall. I was excited about it at first, but now that I've started to meet a whole bunch of cool kids around my area, it's starting to depress me. I don't want to just peace out on my new friends, you know? Also, we're responding to a message that was originally posted about a year and a half ago, haha.
