If anyone knows how to mak Thai Stick can they post how to and if it involves bannana leaves can you say where I can find some or an alternative if there is one. I am really facinated by this technique and want to give it a try. thanks
First grow some Thai strain of weed. Then get a bunch of small sticks, about 8" long and a bit thinner than pencil lead. Then manicure the buds and tie some tightly onto each stick with hemp string. Then soak in liquid opium. Voila there you have Thai stick. It does not involve banana leaves. Go up to whoever told you that and say "no more weed for you, you've done smoked yourself retarded."
I got that information from a thread on overgrow when it used to be around. I remember it being like a large cola and putting bannana leaves around it and wrap hemp string around it very very tightly and cover it with string. And this is supposed to give it a very strong cure.
Nope. That's a good way to end up with moldy weed. ADD: Grown outdoors Thai stains can grow 20' tall, and it takes up to 4 months to flower instead of the usual 2 months. P.S. There's no such thing as a "very strong" cure. Incomplete vs. fully cured yes. Fully curing weed increases potency but DOES NOT make weed into Thai stick.
in an old issue of Yerba from Spain (High Times, but in spanish), they describe how to make Thai Sticks. the person who wrote it learned from some Cambodian nuns. i´ll briefly try to sum up the process: tie buds onto thin stick of bamboo using hemp string. once the entire stick is covered, gently roll it in your hands to even it out and close up and open spaces. a hole is dug into the ground to make a double solar oven, with pieces of slate or similar material in the bottom of the hole to maintain the heat. then you put a clay pot with a glaze on the inside in the hole and add alcohol. hash is put in there and from the heat and the alcohol, hash oil will be extracted. then pkace the sticks in the pot vertically and "bathe" them in the hash oil. the whole process lasts about 2 days. so that´s my rough summation of the process from this magazine. there are more details, but i dont want to translate the entire article. i wish i could scan the pictures that are included because they´re mouthwatering. this is the only process i´ve ever known of. doing it with liquid opium is new to me (and sounds delicious).
Wow Melvin! That's pretty cool! Camdodian Nuns, huh? I've heard of both varieties - Hash Oil and Opium. Never really heard how they did the hash oil before. I heard that the opium variety was made by dipping the Thai Stick into a thick milky solution of powdered opium and water, just a quick dip and shake off the excess. Must have been a bitch to dry without getting moldy! A-a-h-h Thai Sticks!!! Brings back memories of 25-30 years ago!
My experiences with opiated Thai stick taught me just how seductive a mistress opiates can be. I had a friend who was the middleman in a lot of Thai stick transctions and it was pretty much all I smoked for about 4 months during the early 70's. Wow talk about techicolor dreams! But it's not exactly dreaming; you're not alseep, just like in never-never land. I remember listening to a Rolling Stones Live album, and while it was playing I was Mick Jagger prancing around on stage. I could see, hear, even smell the crowd. Every night for like 4 months I smoked Thai stick, and then I ran out. Because of the soaring demand for Thai stick, what was now coming into the US was un-opiated; just marijuana. After spending a VERY uncomfortable night I bought some of this but it didn't "do the trick". I got high off the fantastic potent weed part but that's not what my body craved, it wanted that opium. That's when I realized I was truly addicted. It scared the daylights out of me. I spent a very miseable week getting over it. The physical part of the addiction was over in a few days but the psychological part lasted longer. I wanted those colorful dreams back. My friends were glad to see me around again. I realized I had spent more and more time alone, me & my Thai sticks, turning down invites & events. I vowed NEVER to smoke opium again and I've kept my promise.
I just ran accross this. It is from an article in a back issue of "Cannabis Culture Magazine" written by, none other than, D.J. Short: Opium Soaked Herb An element was added to certain shipments of Thai herb in the 70's: "early water." A by-product of the heroin trade, early water was the leftover water used to create the heroin from the raw opium. It contained all of the constituents of opium except most of the heroin. The curing Thai herb was soaked in the water and redried to absorb the opiate alkaloids. The result was a high that was sought out by some, but more than most bargained for. A good wash was an enjoyable thing, but some were over-laced, which caused a dilemma for those who would start spinning after a few hits on a joint.
