if so, is it any harder finding a job with one and what not?

    MY STORY:
I work a full time job, 9-5, working gay ass telemarketing haha. I actually enjoy my job to an extent and don't plan going anywhere until after 18 and what not; then I plan to do the needed schooling to become a truck driver, get my CDLs etc etc. That's what I have sketched out so far. Anyways, my life has went south. girlfriend of nearly a year left me for my best friend, got fucked on my probation deal, failing school but the only thing I'm doing right is my JOB. I do online schooling but it's just another thing that causes a shit ton of stress in my life. So far, I'm bipolar, have anger issues and serious anxiety problems yet not medicated. Any stress is bad for me right now. I've been considering just dropping out of high school and getting my GED a little later down the road when my situation gets straightened out. is it really that bad of an idea? any ideas? serious responses please.

first, i graduated from high school, so no i don't have a GED. that said, it won't make that much of a difference in getting an entry level job, like food service or whatever. and you would still be eligible for college, including (i think) financial aid and scholarships. i would definitely recommend just finishing school now, but it's really not that big of a difference either way. i suppose it also depends on what you actually want to do with your life, which you probably don't really know yet anyway. if you are serious about driving truck, i'm guessing that a GED would be just as good as a diploma.

i also don't think this is really the place to ask. again, if you're serious about driving truck, maybe you should look up truck driving on the internet. maybe even anonymously call some major trucking companies and get their opinions.

I personally look at a diploma as greater than a GED.

most people do, but it's illegal to use such common sense when hiring people.

pft no it's not, normally you have to put down your education history and you're not required to tell someone why you didn't hire them.

Very often it simply comes down to who you know rather than what you know.
Some systems make no sense, common or otherwise.

Other than some military gigs, having a GED will exclude you from no entry level positions, which are almost entirely about recommendations and impressions.

it depends on what kind of job it is i think... most applications ask if you have either a high school diploma, GED or equivalent ... thing,
and you don't have to chose.

i had to drop out of high school during december of my senior year, and i got my ged and started college. i've had a few jobs since i've dropped out.

I think either way, so long as you're being productive you will succeed at what ever you put your mind to. So if working a job is working out well and school isn't, it wouldn't be terrible just to stick to that.

You're making money and any other potential employers will be able to see you're not a bum even if you do drop out because you are working. In short so long as you're doing something productive and you're making realistic plans, you're going down the right road.

do the GED now, it's fucking easy ( took the GED as a means to get a diploma, some states allow that, check if yours does)
