Because I haven't. If you've got any good ideas for a thread post here and I might re-post it later. I reserve the right to tweak all posts.
I know a ten year old who has more maturity than some around here, and kinder, too, more importantly.
i have lots of ideas. most of them don't seem to interest a lot of people on here. or in mundane life either. not even things that don't make sense to not be important to people. and to me, the one most important topic, is the kind of world we want to live in, how we end up making the one we do how it is instead, and how we can avoid doing the latter, or at least small ways that contribute to that. like pretty much paying attention to what we are doing and the effect it has, even if its a tiny statistical fragment. this is what i find way more fascinating then anything to do with people or money. or i guess i should say directly to do with, because inevitably someone will point out some role played by one or the other in anything that doesn't begin and end completely without them. the latter being i suppose pretty much limited to cosmology and sub atomic physics, upon which i claim not particular experteas, nor even more then an informed layman's comprehension. yes worlds. real and imagined. what makes them tick. how they get that way. the roles we play are even almost a secondary interest, compared to my fascination with the technologies of infrastructure, constructed spaces, aesthetics and sustainablitiy of engineering, that sort of thing. and then of course dipicting worlds in visual, written, and even acoustical media.
to make a thread you just have to make up something and then say it like it already existed.....for example ''substitute friends''.......there is no such thing in the general sense but that didn't stop it from becoming a thread....and then reading the thread shed no light on the title at all.....people still responded
i was just about to post a thread regarding the Tricks For Getting Discounts At Clothing Stores & Women's Attitude About Such...but someone beat me to it..
i liked those, all of the iterations from the very beginning, but its been too long since i watched any to remember details of particular episodes. everything about the context was good, except for the ship being however low key about it, still essentially military, and the idea that humans would create the federation, instead of older and wiser galactic civilizations having already done so, and earth being on probationary and having yet to earn perminent membership, by demonstrating an ability to act civilized and considerate. something more like the undersea world of jaques custoa, only in space would make more sense. have the ship be one of those university research vessles, or like green peace's rainbow warior, only in space. much better then any of hollywoods attempts to imitate real science fiction. ds9 and the one with janeway and djikote, were the two itterations i liked best. also babilon 5 was good. more believably alien aliens then anything else making it into visual media i can recall seeing. there was something, timescape, dreamscape, something like that i think it was, that was pretty good about that. what comes and goes is an audience for honestly alien cultures that actually work. people have a problem with being able to accept that any way of looking at things themeselves that they're not already familiar with, being capable of actually working. i mean you see people having that problem right on here, on hip forums, all the time, and of course, whenever you walk down the mundane street.
