I have been needing to get some information on some historical places that my group is investigating. We could really use someone that is good at being able to find history on a building or site.

glad you're asking this. I can't help much, but i've also been wondering if this extensive type of research is possible concerning certain whereabouts. I live in a house that was built in 1865 and i am very curious to learn the history of its inhabitants and stuff like that, and there are many old buildings that i would love to know more about!

this is only 1 1/2 years after your post.the national register of historic places has a data base of about 85,000 sites in the u.s. that are on the registar.also county and local historical societies have been helpful to me.
