Dang yes I moved to Grand Rapids in January, am surrounded by uptight Reformed types I need some friends that are more relaxed and liberal-minded.
im in muskegon, pretty close to grand rapids. play in 2 bands called green chi and the blue pill, I have played at Founders and a bunch of venues around grand rapids
I know this is a year old, but for anyone else who feels this way about GR, go downtown...or better yet, Easttown. Just don't go too far and wind up in East Grand Rapids, unless you like snobby rich people. There's lots of open minded people in GR, you just have to know where to find them.
Go hang out at The hookah lounge or shakedown street or go to a concert at the orbit room.. You'll meet cool people

Even though this thread is old as dirt, I just wanted to throw out there that I am from this area as well! You guys are right there are a lot of snobby reformed people around. Check out East Town bars and hang out at Yesterdog if you want to meet some cool types. Intersection isn't as lame as everyone on here is saying, I have seen many many GREAT shows here and bumped into lots of chill people. Shakedown street is dope also! But I am sure you have made at least a few friends around here by now!
