I've quit mostly but I still smoke cigarettes sometimes, I have an electronic cigarette and some patches. It seems if I drink that's when I am going to want to smoke the most. I also think the other chemicals in cigarettes probably has something to do with it.

Has anyone ever actually quit for good?

Theres something about the fact that a real cigarette you know when it's done with because you have to put it out but an electronic cigarette you can keep taking drags from it.

Never tried an electronic cigarette. Patches neither. I did stop smoking a few times, longest for about half a year.

I've quit smoking numerous times. Once for 11 months... once for 10 months... once for 8 months.... once for 6 months and multiple times for weeks or a month or two...

I'm currently smoking about 4 cigs a day (compared to how I used to smoke a pack a day)... and gonna be, again, working on not smoking at all.

I try not to stress myself out over staying quit... or the fact that I've always started again.. the way I see it is every time you quit, for any amount of time, you're still giving your lungs and heart and the rest of your body a break from all the chemicals in the cigs.- and that time adds up..

I never started, but my father-in-law quit smoking quite a few years ago and never started again. That man's willpower amazes me, lol. He was a baaaaaad alcoholic when my husband and sister-in-law were children and one day he just quit drinking and never went back. He also was a pothead to the max when my husband was a really really small child and he just quit that and never went back, too. I know quitting pot is nowhere near the difficulty levels of quitting smoking and drinking, but I still find it pretty impressive ontop of it all.

Ah you said it. On two different occasions I quit for about two years; the latest ending just a few months ago :( . Stupid of me to go back to it, but I fucked up, what can I say. Seems like you're doing better.

Had 2 month break but started smoking like crazy lately.

Only if I had cash to replace every cigarette with weed... :(

I've never tried to stop smoking(cigarettes or weed), because I've never wanted to stop. I'll NEVER permanently stop smoking weed, though I do take long, unintentional breaks when I have no money/access. As far as cigarettes are concerned, I'm not worried about quitting, because I've already lived longer than than I thought I would, so I'm content. That's not to say I won't try to quit smoking cigarettes in the future, but, for now, I don't give a shit. We all start dying as soon as we take our first breath anyway, so fuck it. lol

My mom stopped smoking a year or two ago with the help of Chantix. That shit worked wonders for her.

I used Chantix before. It worked good for me too. Until I got a rash from it and had to stop taking it.but I was almost done with it by then anyways.

I have never smoked, but my support goes out to those who have the will to attempt to quit.
