I have gotten 2 complements from strangers in two days. Not that I need or seek them but it's a nice way to brighten your day. Anyone gotten random complements and praise for their dreadies?
not yet...boo my dreadies are new and very crazy...I think people are confused when they see my hair!
I dropped my kids off for at their co-op science class, and went to sit and write at a coffee shop. I was in a pretty sad mood, and there was this impeccably dressed older woman who kept looking at me. She ended up coming over and commenting on my hair and shoes, and we ended up hanging out until I had to pick up my girls. Weird experience, but very cool. People regularly test my paradigms.
i was in town waiting for friends once and an older lady walked passed me with blonde dreads and we smiled at each other as if to say 'you are sooo awesome', and then i saw her again later cause we went to the same gig =] aaaanndd once i was in town (im not always there, honest) and some guy with dreads was doin charity stuff and we had a natter, but then i had to piss off to london (he was well cute too) aaaaaaaaaaaaaannnddd,, once a black guy came up to me and just said 'nice dreads, keep 'em clean' and that was it.. but i defo agree with the randomness of it making your day, its nice that lots of people appreciate them
I get complements a lot... I Think it's because people don't know what else to say when my crazy ass rolls through their existence.
I always get complements. I live in a small town and walk/ride my bike everywhere so I am always outside, and just get compliments at random. I got one 30 minutes ago.
A few days ago an Indian guy triped going down the escalators as i was going up them, at out local shopping center. made my day. edit: he tripped cause he was looking at my dreads.
i get the most compliments from black people. but being as there are like... NO black people in west sonoma county, i haven't gotten a compliment in a long time. the only other dreadies around here are the uppity hippies who think they have the corner on being the cool, peaceful, alternative peeps. they give me wierd condescending looks, so i try to stay away from them, lol!
I get my fair share of compliments but more insults than anything, so many people say white guys dont look right with dreads, and that im a wannabe Fucks sake get over yourselves There is 3 guys with dreads at my college, 1 is taking the natural route but i've been too nervous to just walk up to him and ask him! they aren't very old though! There is this tanned guy with them, awesome dreads, perfect hair type. but he uses normal shampoo and loads of products inc wax, hes had them for about 2.5 years but he wouldnt listen to me explaining residues There is a dreadheadHQ advertiser! He walks around with lock peppa in his pocket! NO JOKE! They are banded all over, and are white with that much wax but he wont listen either, I try and help them but they throw it back in my face. No compliments yet but loads of insults but their young so im ok with it. But it is odd being called the caveman on the insurance commercials.
i get a bunch of compliments, like one every couple of days. mostly people ask me how i "got my hair to do that" to which i give them a blank stare and say that "i dont tell my hair what to do- it does its own thing"
This black couple did in Ikea. Most people are just shocked at how short my hair is now, or they go " Why did you do that?" But I like that the compliments are scattered, it makes them seem more meaningful.
