their music was definatly different, but so well thought out. not many coverbands are able to cover this monster talant. close to the edge is one of my fav albums. how bout the rest of ya?
Speaking of Yes, I just found a copy of "Tales from Topographic Oceans" (vinyl) in a pile of newspapers right next to a dumpster while I was walking down the street. It's in good shape, too! Strange how that works... Is it any good?
not a Yes fan as a group, but I like anything that Steve Howe, Bill Bruford, or Trevor Rabin have a hand in Jon Anderson's voice just doesn't agree with my ears excellent group of musicians, though
yeah. Yes rule! steve's amazing, and i personally like jon's vocals. they're so positive. as long as I don't let myself feel preached-to, i really enjoy the music and most of the messages. image-wise, they're nuts. metallic robes and fantasy stage sets. haha. acid and mega-rock. yes.
i did'nt have that one, they had so many , i'm sure their was some good tunes on it, they had a couple good live albums featuring some of their best songs, yes shows and yes songs, their music is is'nt for everybody, but if you give it a chance it grows on you and you realize what talant these guys have. i got to see them on their first stop on the 90125 tour at millersville college. it was basicly their sound check concert with the local company claire brothers who are now an international sound company. yes used to rehearse in their hometown of lititz pa. so i'm told.
i think steve howe is my favorite guitarist, he is on a level of his own, yea the robe thing is kinda corny, but it was cool back then, rush did it too. and they were quite talanted also, as long as you could deal with getty lee's high pitched vocals. i think i read somewhere that chriss squire was an influence on geddy's bass playing. i think their both awesome.
was that album 90125 or 90126? i don't remember, that was around 1984 and i lost all my lps to the ex.
maybe it was 90210? Or was that the zip code for a tv show? I always got them confused. I saw Yes on that tour (my first time) and a few times since then. Yes always puts on a great show.
good idea. maybe he could pay you for a summer's lawn mowing with an autographed 70s era yes costume or something sweet.
haha. yea, that would be pretty cool. i know a guy that gets guitar lessons from him. how fucking awesome would that be?
