Is there anyone here who is a professional astrologer, or are we all interested amateurs? I was just curious. I'm beginning to charge now. I've just started putting my name out after several months of doing free charts for people for practice.
not even an amateur here. just trying to learn a little & make sense of things... just curious. how much will you charge and what do you do ... as in what will I get if I have you read my chart or my synastry charts w/ others?
Right now I'm charging $75 for a complete natal chart. I also do progressed. I haven't run into any synastry yet, but I would. Eventually, hopefully in the next year, I'm going to horary. That should be interesting because there aren't very many horary astrologers out there. I can do this a bit, but I don't feel like I'm good enough to charge for it yet. It would be less than a natal since they are quicker to do. Up until the 18th century, a typical astrologer got most of their business through horary and not natal astrology. I think part of this is because back then most people didn't have accurate birth information. edit: by the way I do Classical/renassance astrology which I find gives my more detail than modern astrology. Modern astrologer gloss over a lot of the techniques ealirer astrologers used to do.
not a pro but I know a lot of pros. they all tell me the counseling skills are as important as the astrological skills. give the information and then know how to guide the client through it. I was good at the technical aspects but not up to par at the interpersonal part. the best astrologers get most of their business by word of mouth. give a good reading and your client tells their friends about you. one thing I noticed about astrologers, they seem to really enjoy their craft. It's nice to see such passion.
To me a quick natal chart talks about the ascendant, Sun sign, and then whatever really sticks out OR answering the questions they have. A complete interpretation goes through all of the major items house by house. It takes longer.
