Intels aren't the best for gaming, I personally woulda got an AMD, and second, it isn't a 'super' computer :p Super comps are multi platformed, my dad works on them, and those sonabitches are huge. But with your 8800 you should be good with gaming, but geforces are the best gaming cards. A friend of mine has a ATI Radeon 9600 XT, with 3gigs of ram, and a 3.4ghz CPU, he run 3 WoW clients, a source client, firefox, aim, and vent all at the same time. Shit is incredible.

Avoid SLI, I built a computer for a friend, duel 7900's and its nothing but problems. Invest in one top of the line card... dual is only good if you have multiple monitors. I'd also suggest an AMD 4200+ or better CPU. The AMD's are far better then the intel chips. There is alot involved. If you're intrested MSN me. dsaarloos_158@hotmail.com

    ^^/Agree
Also, your specs on your motherboard wouldn't depend much in the long run, as long as you have a corresponding fan to your CPU size. Cuz a friend of mine bought a just under $1.5k comp, failed for some reason to put a good fan in and it overheated everything. And that is always a down fall ;) Needless to say, he bought it 3 months ago, and it broke 3 weeks ago when we were lanning. Shit sucks.

don't listen to the people saying to go AMD. i too am an AMD fan and would have also suggested AMD over intel in the past several years. BUT, today, core 2 duo are the best chips out there and they are SMOKING AMD's stuff right now... your intel setup will be MUCH faster, trust me! but if you can, i'd bump the CPU up to a 6600, but 6400 is great too.

from the looks of it, you should be able to last 2-3 years with this rig. you definitely will need a DX10 graphics card (for upcoming games like Crysis)--the 8800GTX is the best one available. if you have money to burn, you should SLI them since there's no "better" card out there (you could buy one now and buy another when the price drops, though).

last thing: you NEED to get a better/bigger power supply. that 350w isn't going to cut it, especially with the graphics cards.

    good luck!

p.s. i don't know much about intel motherboards, but a simple search will give you the specs on that model and then you can make sure your memory and cpu are compatible. most modern boards come with PCI-E (for your geforce 8800).

Intels have way more problems with them. AMD are great, and low maintence.

    AVOID SLI? LOL

buddy SLI runs shit so fucking insane, i'm currently running 2 cards..umm..they are Geforce 8900's I belive, it's a custom system i built through HP and i can run every game i download full out EVERYTHING, only thing i havent gotten to try yet is DirectX 11 or w/e but im not sure if XP supports it fully...

anyways in terms of your comp, I like everything but i would suggest more Ram and a better MB, how much are u looking to spend? what u have there looks like a 1300+ Rig already

^ look at the final specs, i will eventually (few months time) buy a 8800 gts or maybe gtx for it. ^ i think u mean dx10 digitall and yes its stritly for vista, point being no point getting vista yet, because first game on dx10 is crysis and thats ages from now, and vista is still full of bugs and compatability issues.

    ^ i deffo hope that

Seriously, AMD blows the fuck out of Intel in the long run.

PCI-Express is godly. (made by intel)

if you want to really spend some cash, fuck alienware. Get a Falcon

I agree with everyone on here who said go with AMD, i too am a huge AMD fan. AMD processors will kill any Intel processor.

The only thing i can suggest to you about your final spec's is, if i were you i would get better than a 5600 x2 if you want to really use your ram to it's full potential.

Also, i'm a huge fan of nvidia cards, but i think im going to switch to ATI. AMD is buying out ATI, and pretty soon they are going to be unbelievable. The new ATI card that's coming out blows all nvidia video cards out of the water.

if i had 15k id get a falcon, thing is most of those features are useless atm. its just vuz theyre new, but cant be used yet. by the time they can be used, they will be around my nudget. if the pc i ordered for 600£ can play all nowadays games on maxx, wtf is the point in paying 7000£? fancy vinils, pfffft, i can desing shit nicer than that imo
