Any of you guys know of bands that use alot of organ and have loads of organ solos? I can't get enough of that 60s sound right now!
Not necessarily psychedelic, but the Animals' cover of "House of the Rising Sun" has a beautiful organ part, so does "Nights in White Satin" by the Moody Blues. I loooove the Hammond organ, it's my favorite instrument.
You may or may not like this, but let me tell you it was not an easy post from work-combining iphone, gmail, work mail... I hope somebody enjoys. :sunny: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_XUhoAtCnA"]Emerson, Lake & Palmer Pictures at an Exhibition (Part 1 of 4) 1970 Lyceum - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Hldl0-QBa4"]Emerson, Lake & Palmer Pictures at an Exhibition (Part 2 of 4) 1970 Lyceum - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZKwwG39t6U"]Emerson, Lake & Palmer Pictures at an Exhibition (Part 3 of 4) 1970 Lyceum - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnHZxmCS59k"]Emerson, Lake & Palmer Pictures at an Exhibition (Part 4 of 4) 1970 Lyceum - YouTube

Get a load of some Dennis Coffey, I think there is some Hammond organ in there. I take it's the Hammond sound your after. Also have you ever listened to any Stereolab? They are kind of experimental acid jazz but have some organs in there too i think. Wooden Schijps Clinic use a bit of organ but most of their music is just weird and inaccessible as opposed to psychedelic. The Concretes (a bit) The Cotton Jones Basket Ride I think are amazing. They write a lot of really beautiful hillbilly acoustic music and have a few odd nice tracks with some organ in them, for example Blues from a nest and Raspberry Stream Dunno Zero 7 maybe..

You should listen to early Genesis. Yes, they were a cheesy pop band in their later career, but they were a beautiful but aggressive psychedelic, organ-centric band from 1969-1977. I strongly urge you to listen to them. Some song ideas would be: 1. "White Mountain"- off of Trespass 2. "Fountain of Salmacis"- also features the Mellotron, a similarly cool instrument 3. "Can Utility and the Coastliners"- off Foxtrot 4. "Watcher of the Skies"- combines Hammond organ and Mellotron. 5. "Stagnation"- off of Trespass. Also check out the early Moody Blues.

"Close to the Edge" is a pretty psychedelic album and features Wakeman's skill set extremely well. It is probably my favorite Yes album actually.
