There's a couple of things that I really like about it. The lack of talking and dialogue. It's actually extremely limited in terms of communication which to me adds a dark ambience to it. There's no woman either so no drama. I think there's women in one scene. They may have been slaves I'm not sure. And then it's kind of leaves you to interpret what's actually happening. I haven't actually researched the movie but it was my inclination that they made it to the America's or Canada and then were killed by the native tribes.
Or they were actually already dead and the last scenes were some kind of afterlife/ Hel ... The movie starts out surreal and then continues to get more so.
That's true. Initially I thought maybe they had actually died on the boat and the new lands were the afterlife, but then I remember the theories of the Vikings in the America's and thought maybe that's what they went for. Or maybe Greenland or something with the inuits.
Is was written so the ending was up to the interpretation of the viewer... If they did reach the americas, they were tripping balls while there.
You want weird, season 2 and 3 of Hannibal. Mikkelsen was the star of that too. Dude stars in weird shit
Idiocracy is fun one time and ideally you watch it stoned. It's that kind of comedy True grit is a good western though. I have yet to see The Grand Budapest Hotel!
