any ideas of who this "Antichrist" is?

Ok- so I've been hearing a lot of talk lately about "End Times" and "the AntiChrist" and I hear alot of people saying that it may be coming sooner than we think. So does anybody know who he is or how he will come into power? One of my friends thinks it might be the next Pope. I have a friend who says like after the pope dies- there will be a new Pope- and that this new Pope that comes into power will actually be the AntiChrist trying to disguise himself as a Pope. I've heard other people say that the President of Iran, I forget what his name is, that he may be the AntiChrist too because he did say that he wanted to wipe Israel off the entire map. Anyways, who do you guys think it might be?

people have been saying it is the End times for 2000 years in the christian context.

Everyone from Nero, to the popes, to Obama, the UN, Hitler, Saddam, even Marian apparitions has been labeled as THE Antichrist.

Same goes for the number of times the Watchtower people predicted the end, but it didn't come.

The real Anti Christ most people will not see coming. Whoever it is, if he has to get to the political top he has to be a likeable personality. Besides, I don't pretend I have the foggiest idea who the anti Christ could be and I think it's wise not to make random guesses either.

I think that I heard President Ahmadinejad (Pres. of Iran) say that that attribution of that statement to him is not true. This is what the Bible teaches of the Anti-Christ.

He will arrive at a time when Christianity is in decay and be seen as a calming influence a chaotic world. He will be of European, and maybe Roman descent (so in other words it cannot be Obama... or Kanye West). His name will somehow have a connection to 666.
He will make a 7 year peace covenant with Israel and be assassinated at some point during the first 3 and a half years of this peace plan, and be Satanically resurrected, before claiming to be God, breaking his peace treaty with Israel and desecrate the rebuilt Temple by proclaiming himself to be God and to be worshipped. After that, he will introduce the mark of the Devil, and rebels who refuse to take the mark will be killed. Those who take the mark will be damned. Jews and Christians will be killed off. Many Jews will also convert to Christianity en masse. Many Jews will escape to a place in the wilderness where God will provide food and drink for them.
Finally, he will gather the armies of the world against God and are defeated. The anti-Christ and his false prophet are taken from the Earth and thrown into a lake of fire.

At some point in the 7 years or maybe before the 7 years begin, will be what is known as the Rapture. Millions of people (those who accept Jesus as saviour) will be called to heaven. Those remaining on Earth will likely explain this as being UFO capturing family, or natural phenomena. Some will assert that humans have evolved into a higher being.

Hope that helps, but the Bible doesn't go into any more detail of who he is.

That's the one thing I can't get by. According to your take it's an either/or proposition.
Either your with Christ OR you're an antiChrist.

I really prefer to be neither...I bow before no one....good or evil.

The story of end times depicts the nature of mans struggles with his own natures. The Antichrist as well as the Christ exist inside us all. When we see Christ we shall be like him. The term Christ means the anointed or approved authority. Note that the Bible is every bit as dear to the atheist as it is to the theist.

 

A question then to you. If the events in the Bible did come to be, what would you do? Logically thinking, there would probably be many rebels (non-Christian) who will reject the Anti-Christ, but when threatened with death and torture to acquire the Mark of the Beast and worship the Beast, how many of these rebels would carry on, and how many would give in?
How would you react, hypothetically speaking, if you were involved in the End times prophecy, as a non-Christian unwilling to bow down and worship Satan?

 

A question to you then, how would you treat Christ?

Um lol...well...all I can say is Biblegateway.com is veracious to the best of my knowledge lol.

But getting to those results, I don't think that they say all who are not believers in Christ are antichrists. Infact, the actual quote is:

"but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist..."

Anyone can acknowledge Christ regardless to his/her religion, or lack thereof...
