A few months ago I started freaking out and giving away most everything I own. All my childhood possessions, gifts, most of my clothes, everything.
Eventually I moved and left everything behind with hopes to start over, but even with what little I still own I just feel incredibly anxious thinking about it and being near it all.

Anyways, I am really feeling like that again.
I want to take everything in my room and trash it and never look at it again!
It all makes me feel verrrry panicky and I don't know why.

Even after I get rid of a lot of things, I feel the same.

Anyone out there with similar problems or advice?

I'm kinda the same way actually. About a year ago i had the same mind wave that my possessions were clouding my thought waves and so i just gave it all away and moved to a new place. I didn't like feeling as though my personality existed and was mediated through the stuff i owned and purchased. But alas more has accumulated and been collected again.

So now i started to think possession is just the consequence of living in the material world to begin with, and despite me trying to live my life as a pure droplet of water flowing freely about the earth, its only natural that we will all come to be contaminated by a few foreign things along the way and thats normal, thats what makes us human and part of everything else. I now see my thoughts, emotions, facial expressions, speech, and personal style as all possessions accumulated through my experiences and that thinking has helped me to integrate the usual commodities like cd's food, clothing and whatnot as belonging in the same category; not a disease that plaques me but stuff which helps remind me who i am and where my personal interests and preferences lay. This thinking has helped me see even consuming as a spiritual avenue and i now only consume and buy when it feels right in the same manner as i do anything else, i try and act on things when it feels right to do so.

getting rid of possesions is like when animals shed their skin, fur, or feathers. it's a way to grow and it makes space for new things to come into your life.

    happy trails,
