This has been discussed and good points were made on both sides of the debate. However the thread has moved dangerously close to personal attacks. This forum exists on the faith that participants can disagree civilly without name calling and insulting one another. When expressing a dissenting view one should consider what their agenda is: whether to dissuade an opposing viewpoint (not likely), to attack the person opposing an opinion (not allowed), or to paint oneself as incontrovertibly and fundamentally correct (not recommended).

It is lively debates such as this that make these forums worthwhile, but condescending attitudes and patronizing responses make fertile grounds for flaming and verbal slug fests which will bring down the integrity of these forums. Please everyone, be respectful and allow others the space to hold differing viewpoints- and if a response strays towards patronizing and condescending, please don't escalate matters by responding.
