Standards are gladly changing + trial by public media is winning over the other unhealthy extreme of 'sweep it under the carpet & hope it goes away'!

That’s a great way of putting it! What bugs me in a way though is that these apologies seem to be forced, like if he offended her years ago, why not own it and apologize then? Better late than never, I guess.

I agree that there are appropriate ways to act, but we are going to make people afraid to say or do anything for fear! I think we all have to use discretion in our relations but no one is perfect.

You miss the point entirely. What exactly do you mean by "respect" women? Become toadies?

It means just making men afraid to say anything at all about you....."You look nice tonight" "WHAT? ARE YOU TRYING TO TOUCH MY BODY?!!"

A "toady" would be like "Hello.....May I be your slave and do whatever you want me to and think about how awful I am?"

And you missed my point. If you respect women you don't need to be "afraid" of them.

Why is being respectful to women so confusing to some men?

There have been multuple threads on this site alone where men are equating "respect women" with being crushed under some matriarchal boot heel.

I guess hyperbole is one way to avoid the actual topic.

That scene in Game night where McAdams character is attending to the gunshot wound in his arm and to help with the pain he bites down on that squeaky hamburger toy thing. That cracked me up so hard.

Bateman is funny, and in this case he is apologizing for makeing excuses for another guy Tambor being a turd. Lame

Edit: Lame that Bateman even has to apologize that is, for shit that was Tambors fault

^ yeah, Bateman cracks me up. He's such a great straight guy when paired up with other comedic actors. Something of a modern day Jack Lemmon.

    Yeah, I said it...

Oh, so you mean men arent going to start getting arrested for telling a woman she looks nice? Because there are a lot of fellas around here who seem to think that

Women: Please don't objectify, sexualize, and harass us.

Men: This is too confusing. In other words, we can't talk to you at all?

I forgot I posted this. lol

I agree Neo. I don’t get why so many guys can’t just go to work and um...work? They can’t be around women without feeling the need to flirt or put us down? As if there’s no other means to communicate? Lol

My husband said that those types of men probably have issues from childhood, they learned how to treat women by watching their parents. I agree.

That is so extreme. Obviously most women aren't looking for that.

I don't feel offended by a man telling me I look nice.. I feel BORED. Maybe if there is any ambiguity about whether a compliment will be welcome or offensive, try talking about something else or compliment a woman's opinion or skill. You can say "something at all" about us without even touching on appearance. Not many men do.

A woman complimented my bike riding once and it was lovely. I'd be delighted if a man noticed something like that. When women feel like they're being seen as a whole being rather than the two dimensional "pretty female", they feel respected.
