I know, I know. Not another one of these pregnancy threads. Oh well. I got a few questions pertaining to my girlfriends recent problems. We've had sex 3 times since her last period (which started Feburuary 21st, and keep in mind, she has a very irregular cycle, as she is not on birth control, so her periods last between 30 and 32 days). and shes due her for her next one in the next 2 or 3 days. I wasn't worried at all honestly until yesterday. I was in class and she calls me crying, not making any since. She couldn't form a proper sentence and couldn't think straight. Now, she is a type 1 diabetic (the kidn you are born with), so her blood sugar has a tendency to rise and fall, depending on what she's eat, etc. She tells me her blood sugar is low and she's been trying for an hour to get is raised back up. In a panic, I rush to her house form school. She tells me she has a very piercing headache (like a migraine) and has been naucious. So, I get her some soda to sip on, we get her blood sugar up and I lay her down. She then goes on to tell me that when she got up, she couldn't comprehend words, sh was having a hard time focusing and when she was talking to me, she seemed to be fishing for words, having a hard time forming sentences. Anyways, she eventually vomits (twice) and her migraine persist till evening. She took a na last night, and afterwards she told she felt much better, but went back to being naucious after she ate. Today when we talked, she told me she felt naucious this morning, but that subsided and shes been lightheaded for the majority of the day. So, i guess these symptoms could be anything. I just wanted to see if I could dimiss the whole pregnancy thing that I really didn't think of until today. I guess we'll find out in a couple of days when shes suppossed to have her period. EDIT: each time we had sex, we did use a condom, and there were no breaks.
I know, I know...not another one of these asshole comments. But, I'm going to be that asshole... She's diabetic. You know this. You know she gets sick. She knows what comes along with being diabetic. Blood sugar problems can cause migraines, nausea, dizziness, and incoherence. Maybe she has the flu. Maybe she needs meds. If she doesn't feel good, it doesn't mean she's pregnant. She won't if she's pregnant unless she misses a period and/or goes to the doctor. If you can't handle a child, maybe she should think about birth control while using condoms. There are people out there who would LOVE a pregnancy scare like you have here.
eh your not an asshole, your just telling it like it is. and I've talked to her about going on BC, but she just won't. She's too afraid of what it might do to her. And I know that just because she gets sick does not mean shes pregnant, it was just the timing of it was quite odd. Idk, I feel like I oughta give her an ultimatum on the BC thing. then Maybe I won't worry about it. And for the record, I'm not necessarily worried, just concerned.
I think it's more likely that her blood sugar was very low, which resulted in a major migraine (intense migraines can lead to vomiting). That, coupled with an impending period, is a bad time. Pregnancy symptoms of that magnitude do not typically occur until farther along. BC is a very personal choice. Ingesting artificial hormones on an ongoing basis is not a small thing and it would be very unfair to give an ultimatum. Condoms work pretty well, especially when coupled with spermicide. If there's a break... Plan B taken asap will prevent implantation.
If she's having serious irregularity like that, she should DEFINITELY go on birth control. Irregular periods can cause a lot of damage.
Ha! I see you changed your post. I do try and be kind and loving, but when she's as stubborn as a mule on the subject it's kind of hard to be. I just wnat her to do her part so that she's as safe as I'm trying to be by wearing a condom. idk. I don't particulerly like what BC will do to a girl, and I'm glad she's chosen to be more natural with things, but it does bother me... She has pretty intense periods, and I knwo BC will tone them down.
I actually didn't mean to delete the kind and caring part... typing on a ipad throws me off I'm pretty wary of the long-term effects of BCP, so i understand where your gf is coming from. There's always the old- fashioned diaphram (does anyone use thse anymore?) that coupled with a condom would be pretty darn safe AND hormone-free. Sounds like your being pretty safe though. She should definitely talk to her gyno about options, offer to go with her!
No need to worry about pregnancy until she's missed a period. Anytime I've had a migraine its coupled with nausea. Its probably just that. As long as you're using condoms correctly they should be pretty effective.
