And the point of that was?

Give me a link to the home page of googles crappy self driving car

How does that answer the question?

Well, wasn't too far back that a driverless car was some sort of sci-fi fantasy and yet,,,

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/news/2016/10/25/120-mile-beer-run-made-self-driving-truck/92695580/

    https://www.wired.com/2016/10/ubers-self-driving-truck-makes-first-delivery-50000-beers/

And lets not forget, Dominos delivers.

    http://www.cnbc.com/2016/11/16/dominos-has-delivered-the-worlds-first-ever-pizza-by-drone-to-a-new-zealand-couple.html

If anything all thats needed at this point is to better refine our GPS systems with more precise, near-range RFID based monitoring
(Lots of options for links, I'll let you choose which)

This one paints a better picture of otto motors https://www.recode.net/2017/3/24/14737438/uber-self-driving-turmoil-otto-travis-kalanick-civil-war

That test was last october, there hasnt been one since, and there was a motorcade of state troopers running along side the truck you didnt see in the video

OR simply a passion for seeing the technology "hit the roads" A.S.A.P. Collaboration being more efficient in achieving results and all

    A juggling of the minds,,,
Keep in Mind I'm not "waiving a pom-pom for any *company*, Simply the developing Technology and the Minds involved in the overall process

AHHH Finally, the *Technical issues at hand! :cheers2:
Was going to scream if I had to read any more about Inter-Human drama and bullshit thats mostly irrelevant in the sense of rolling out the technology in the long run
^^ Red lights, uncertainty in decision making etc, this is why I'm pointing at RFID tech, would need to cross-talk between other cars, streetlights etc. but would enable them to be much more "Aware" of their surroundings coupled with the Lidar systems. Not trying to say "Hey this is ready to install tomorrow", Within 4-5 years yes, maybe less if folks could just stop having their little pissing matches and learn to fkn work together on *non-masturbatory crap*,,, oh I'm veering off topic there,,, my bad. ;)
BUT a Chute system to prevent a bad crash / Collateral damage in the event of a mid-air collision sure is in any event.
Maybe I should just call them

Drone technology is related to the internet of things, or IoT, which is about to explode. Any damned fool can buy a radio controlled airplane, but drones promise intelligent machines that can coordinate their activities on the fly. The Pentagon just tested their first swarm technology and what they're shooting for is the ability to launch hundreds and thousands of them at once capable of repairing one another in mid-flight and attacking any target in a coordinated fashion. Think drones of any size from a hornet to a tank that can combine their abilities at will and create their own machine ecology.

What's holding it all back is the quantum cryptography, terahertz communications, and quieter motors for stealthy attacks, but those are twenty years away at the outside.

.....or.....the pissing matches happen, everybody gets shifted around.......because no one knows how to get this shit working

I dont see how one is ever going to get true AI without forced learning from adaption.

Its not the tech, its not processing speeds, its the logic of learning. There hasnt been any breakthroughs in mathematical logic since, well, ever really

Every learning system is copied from nature, evolution or how the human brain thinks,

Pre program an artificial intelligence to know everything with out ever having to learn is what we are really talking about, we are really talking about by passing evolution

Everyone likes to dream about the future and have a tug, but I think its all bullshit. I can see semi autonomous cars - which would require an absolulety massive spend on infrastructure the world over, which is why I dont think we'll even see semi autonomous cars being the majority of vehicles

But as for fully autonomous cars, no way in hell are we only 5 years away from that

Then there is real world economics - why? why are young males in particular going to spend a couple years savings on a hotted up car they can never actually drive? Manufacturers still build manual transmissions, people still buy them, cos they like to change gears, do wheelie spins in first gear, over rev the engine. Same reason hybrids didnt take over the world. Is the demand actually even there?

Whats holding them back is air pressure and gravity

Nothing *has to take over*. Hybrids and 6 speeds are still out there,,, as will be flying cars.

More likely than semi or fully autonomous in the immediate future will sadly be a "grab er' by the stick" model with a parachute safety system similar to the other video I posted, maybe some sort of AI to at least help guide the wrecked Jetsons-moblies to the ground without landing on the wicked witch of the west or her house.

Swarm robots likes these can be made a bit larger than a hornet and target anything from scouting out enemies to providing rescue and relief in a natural disaster. Tiny robots are portable and flying is just the fastest way for them to get around. Within three years the use of graphene supercapacitors should start to explode on commercial markets along with dirt cheap high performance motors and improvements to solar cells. That's when the Jetsons start flying all over the place, but it will take a couple of decades.

Heres a channel I recommend a subscription to, this Guy is awesome, pretty wide range of research going on and really close to commercial roll out of a few things up His sleeve.
I think this is like the closest to a Bromance I've ever been, love this Guy's general Philosophy.
