So despite the Government's instructions to those over 70 to avoid all social contact, this arrogant bastard is determined to ignore such instructions. I wonder if the Police will arrest and detain this arrogant sod ??? 'Of course I’ll go': Boris Johnson’s father to ignore son’s coronavirus advice and go to pub Yahoo Staff Writer Mar 17th 2020 3:46PM The prime minister's father has said he would ignore his son's advice about the coronavirus and still go to the pub. Stanley Johnson said in a TV interview on Tuesday: "Of course I'll go to a pub if I need to go to a pub." His comments came a day after his son, Boris Johnson, told the nation to avoid pubs, clubs, theatres and other social venues. The government has introduced social distancing in an effort to tackle the spread of Covid-19, the disease caused by coronavirus. The prime minister said the advice was particularly important for people over 70, who are set to be asked to self-isolate for 12 weeks from this weekend. But his father, who is 79, said he would defy the official advice if he need to go for a drink. Speaking on ITV's This Morning, he said landlords "don't want people to be not in the pub at all". His comments come as the industry voices concern that the measures could result in mass job losses and permanent pub closures. Johnson suggested his son's government would produce a major financial package to support businesses. "The big picture is we are going to get on top of this, we're going to make sure that the National Health Services are not overwhelmed in terms of the people it has in intensive care," he said. "Look at what's already happened, the fact the prime minister made the speech he made yesterday has already had the effect of emptying the streets, emptying the pubs, emptying the theatres, and yes, the government will come through with a package of measures to compensate those people – I'm sure it will – this afternoon the chancellor will say something, so I think we're on the right track." He suggested the government could adopt the kind of measures announced by French president Emmanuel Macron to support citizens and businesses in response to the "mind-boggling" events. Asked if he would go to a pub, Johnson said: "Of course I'll go to a pub if I need to go to a pub." Presenter Phillip Schofield asked what his son would say in response to that comment. Johnson said: "No, he said, you know, we should avoid going to pubs, but if I had to go to a pub I'd go to a pub." Asked by fellow guest Vanessa Feltz why he would "have to go" to a pub, Johnson said: "Well, because the people who run pubs need a little bit of people, don't they? "They don't want people to be not in the pub at all, that's my line."
If he wants to go to the pub that's his choice, we're not in lock down yet, it might be a very quiet pub where he is safely distant from any social contact, stop being a dick. If I see a quiet deserted pub I might pop in for a cheeky pint myself. You can still go out and social distance yourself.
Something needs setting out clearly, my wife deals with appointments at the local hospital, yesterday she had an old lady on the phone, 84 years old, sobbing her heart out, she'd waited ages for an appointment, which she has next week. Someone had told her that old people were not to go out, or they'd be arrested and locked up! This poor old lady was mortified, she was worried not only about her appointment, but about how she was going to get food etc, it's ridiculous. there was a bloke on the Jeremy Vine show, and he was saying that there was no way he was going to self isolate, he'd been through 2 world wars and if Hitler couldn't beat him then he wasn't being told what to do by our government! What a bloody idiot, there's a big difference between dodging something you can see, such as a bomb, and dodging something you can't see, like a virus! When the time comes that people are told to stay in, they should do so, no doubt idiots like the bloke yesterday will still be demanding hospital treatment when they do get sick.
Maybe soon they will have to follow what the danish government did and shut down any and all pubs, restaurants, sports events and any gathering of people greater than 10 aka no more than 10 people can be in one place at the same time. and ofcourse people should have an apropriate distance of at least 1,5 meters to each other.
And that is the problem, no clear instruction, there are things in place to suspend business rates on commercial premises if they are told to close by the government, however they don't get this relief if they close voluntarily, so they stay open, there needs to be clear instruction, and now. So far I feel our government has been reactive rather than proactive and this needs to change.
Just use common sense basically, it all seems pretty clear to me, don't get peoples confusion with it all
Yes, but common sense died out years ago, it should actually be called uncommon sense now, it's that rare. lol
One of the down-sides of freedom is that for the wave that comes after those that broke down barriers, is that there is an expectation without responsibility - self-discipline (in times of adversity) is an unknown attribute - and leads to sense being less common - IMO
