Hello! I was just wondering if anyone could let me know why I have such a horrible fear of driving. I am 23 and have never gotten my drivers license. I haven't been in any bad accidents but still have dreams about driving and being out of control. Thanks very much.

I recommend getting in touch with your subconscious mind through sentence completion techniques: I will now write down a few sentences and you can complete them..in private or post them here. Write down at least 6 lines. When I am driving I feel: (fill in 6 completions) Eg. Fearful The good thing about being able to drive a car alone might be: The bad thing about being alone in a car might be: I could be afraid to drive because: Of course these are just some examples. I am sure you can create better ones for yourself. PS Have you actually started taking any lessons? PPS Make sure you find an instructor who is patient, loving and forgiving..you need it. PPPS I once read about someone having a fear of driving because she of young childhood experiences. If you really want to get rid of this fear..you should be brave. Take care.

Of course its much easier to never do anything about your fear but the only way your going to get rid of it is by feeling the fear and doing it anyway...
