Animal Collective

First off...to anyone who may feel this is off-topic..please forgive me. I've been really into this band for a couple years now and wanted to share it with everyone else. Those of you who are already aware of Animal Collective...this will just be a nod to you. But they're a really interesting group that have created their own unique sound and I really dig it. Apparently they've been together since their teenage years when they began experimenting with LSD and musical improvisation. There's always threads about music for trippin or bands we may individually like so I decided to post here. I missed my chance to see them in concert last time they came to my neck of the woods..and our dear friend has once more begun to elude me...but I'm savin my last one to see them again when they do come back. You really oughta check them out..they're so strange. I love their sound!

Yeah I'm really lovin that album Mr.Writer. I can listen to it beginning to end while I'm driving around the city. It's crazy what pulling a snare out of the mix can do : )

 

yes they're amazing.

Their movie Oddsac is coming out August 10th. I saw one of the few showings it had, with the band actually there! It was so damn awesome!!

I pre-ordered Oddsac and it was supposed to ship on June 29th. every single day for a week or so i would skip to the mailbox all excited hoping the movie (along with a free poster. whoo) would be in there but nope. then i found out it was postponed. i was so damn pissed

I'd have to say my current fav songs are the ones I posted links to. I bought all their albums recently but I've been putting off listening to them to savor it all. I've been looking forward to Oddsac too...I saw it on netflix and thought it was already out and got my hopes up to no avail : )

I just bought the new Panda Bear 45

I love Animal Collective...
Their last album amazed me...sounds like Steven Reich crashing into the Beach Boys.

After a Phish show at Merriweather we reluctantly took a thirty minute drive back to our campsite, at which time we tossed on Sung Tongs. Still very much flyin high we played with our leftover LED toys and glow sticks while sitting in our little car listening to the whole cd, with young campers and families surrounding us. I must say it was the most absurd 45 minutes I've ever had-tracers everywhere from the lights, sounds coming from every direction, the darkness turning into a crazy kaleidescopic vortex my mind eagerly tunneled through. Been an Animal Collective man from that moment on.

im listening to them for the first time and theyre awesome they make me feel so happy but my body is "messed up" and i get random bursts of euphoria so that might be why

 

animal colletive is something to experiment with. especially under the influence. they are truely a joy to listen to...
