Anyone interested in something totally fresh (as in new, not as in `The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air`) should really check them out. Their latest is `Sung Tongs`, which sounds like people at a campfire, playing guitar and discovering their innermost selves. When I listen to this band, I think of what music is probably supposed to be.
i enjoy animal collectives music. Sung tones and Here comes the indian are two great albums from them.
Sung Tongs is a good album, I enjoy it alot, another great album that brings to mind campfire shenanigans, though with a decidedly more ritualistic and experimental bent is Kemialliset Ystavat's Alkuharka , there's lots of great related Finnish free-folk releases doing the rounds at the moment but Alkuharka is cream of the crop IMHO
Thank you kind sir, you do too not wanting to hijack the Animal Collective thread in anyway, but Rhasta P, while you hunt down the Alkuharka album three other related releases from the Avarus extended family of Finnish Free folk experimentalists are Islaja's Meritie and Palaa Aurinkoon albums from 2004 and 2005 respectively and Lau Nau's Kuutarha from 2005 which is my favourite psychedelic album from 2005 so far! ps aquarius records in SF is always a good US source of these albums
