she's mind blowing, after hearing about her on the willy mason fourms i've really got into her. self evident was the first song i heard.really amazing stuff! http://www.righteousbabe.com/ani/words.asp !everyone should give her a listen!
I lurve Ani! My hubby introduced me to her bout 4 yrs ago, we've got every album and I don't think there's one I dont like!
I've probably seen her a couple dozen times, mostly in the pacific northwest... It might sound kinda funny, but I feel like I've got a close connection to her, since I've been listening to her music since it was just the lone little folk singer and her great big guitar... I'm lucky because I kinda grew up along with her - she was like a big sister to me! It's been a while though - last time I caught her was Bonnaroo 2004. She's taking the winter off to give her poor tendons a break, but maybe I'l be seeing her this summer...
Ani rocks! It's unfortunate, because I hear that during a show, she gets wild and jumps around and stuff. But, when I went to see her a few years ago, she'd broken her leg prior to the show and performed sitting down. But, it was still amazing. My fave songs of hers are "In or Out", "School Night" and "Make Me Stay".
I remember that. It was funny actually, because I went to one of her broken leg shows also, and the friend who went with me had just broken HER leg. The RBR staff was awesome though - they let us into the front partition reserved for the press, right up next to the stage. I couldn't even say what my favorite song is. It's usually whatever I happen to be listening to RIGHT NOW!
I love ani! in June I was takin a bus east through the rockies, way up in the highest passes between Revelstoke and Golden BC, and it was super early in the morning, so I got to see silouettes of the mountains slowly come into definition in a haze of orange and pink tones and then the sun rise over the glacier peaks. Ani D was the soundtrack to that experience, I think I had Up Up Up in the discman, I'll forever think of that morning anytime I hear her now. I love her picking style, and the force and attitude she plays with, it just floors me sometimes, I really hope I can take in a live show someday
eh, belated in this thread but as you can tell, i dig miss Difranco. i've been to a couple of her concerts and (wo!)man, i can tell you, i've never been in a place where i've felt... more at home, more at ease, more honest and... blah. than her concerts. if you have the chance and you do feel the Ani-vibe GO SEE HER. she is worth every economic flinch.
i very much love her, she's so good at almost everything she does. well, she was anyways..... i hope her hands feel better soon.
Yay *Loves all of you* Ani is my all time favourite artist. I've been listening to her since I was little, and I have all her albums. She is AMAZING live. If you ever get the chance don't pass it out.
i started listening to ani about 1 1/2 years ago, and my life has changed drastically since then --and totally for the better. she pointed me down the path of hippiedom, and in the direction of many other inspirational people. does anyone else have as much respect and love for ani as i?
Ani ROCKS!! she is such an incredible woman. i really want to see her in concert. i bought a DVD of her live and it's great.
