I went to an Andy Warhol exhibit yesterday. It blew me away. I think his work is awesome. Not only did they have his work, but also things like a Campbell's soup can made entirely of Rubik's cubes. Anyone here a Andy Warhol fan? This is what I bought at the gift shop. I love it.
I've been to his exhibition a few years ago in Vienna I think... It was pretty cool. I like his art, but I don't admire him as a person..
The ultimate commercial artist! He was great... Oh, to be that gay, that talented, that filthy rich, that hip...on and on.
Ted Turner or someone at CNN liked him a lot during the 80s. They used to show Warhol's face on the screen each half hour as part of their promos for a news segment. .
i saw a bunch of dada shit at moma in NY about 2 years ago, i think warhol kinda sucks but i suppose i just don't understand..
I live in Pittsburgh and've gone to the Andy Warhol museum. I really dislike him. I always found it really strange that the hippy crowd here seems to love him and dry hump him even as they bash commercialism.
I may be a hippie but I don't have most of the beliefs that many hippies do. So maybe i'm not a real hippie but thats what I feel I am. I just try to enjoy my life and not worry about what's going on in the world. Fuck i'm high
I wasn't talking about you specifically (or at all really, the replies were what triggered my response). And nah, I would call what you described much more of 'stoner' or 'average' than hippie. In the very core of the hippie ideals is to fight (or peace) for what's right.
Warhol was an asshole, but I love Edie Sedgewick <3 and he found Basquit who is a much better artist. Warhol, himself is fascinating which draws people to his art. On it's own it's just nothing special
Yeah, I saw an exhibition of his in Chicago. I guess I dont understand either or maybe I understand it too well? Either way, not interesting at all.
