You can buy these shirts in any mall. They're everywhere. BTW for what it's worth I politely asked why sexist material was being sold in the stores and was basically told by the hip pheminist punker salesgirl to go ph*ck myself and that I was a whiner, tee hee. I then told my four year old son, who was confused at her attitude, that a valuable lesson was just learned here and I said on my way out "HE is the one I'm worried about lady, not me." Took the George W Bush like smirk off her face, that did. Some cute T-shirts. http://www.oneposter.com/tshirts/cl...oys-are-stupid-throw-rocks-at-them_13061.html http://www.oneposter.com/tshirts/cl...-are-stupider-send-them-to-jupiter_16267.html Get the girls started young! http://www.oneposter.com/tshirts/clothing-brands/david-and-goliath/public-transportation_16435.html http://www.oneposter.com/tshirts/cl...stupid-factory-where-boys-are-made_16275.html The ESSENCE of pheminysm http://www.oneposter.com/tshirts/clothing-brands/david-and-goliath/its-all-about-me_13070.html Where can I get the T-shirt that says "girls are stupid. Give em a shot in the mouth" tee hee oh it's cute, you're just whining.
Ugh. I hate all those kind of tshirts. The diva shirts, the "FBI" tshirts (female body inspector), etc. They are degrading to me-as an intelligent person.
Yup, but a "whine me, dine me, sixty nine me" shirt is basically recognised as crass and sexist, whereas the other one is cute and we're supposed to laugh with them.
Yeah it is so damn stupid. My friend was saying about it too. That just because sexism has been (pretty much) towards women and now it's waining we should be big enough not to fall for a backlash. It'd be like bombing Germany tomorrow for the world wars. Just figure you should treat others as you wish to be treated, and I would indeed be pissed over sexist shirts about women.
My daughter is 9 and is NOT allowed to wear anything like this. My dad and his wife have a 15 year old and a few years ago they got a box of her old clothes for my daughter. One of the shirts said "Boys are stupid throw rocks at them" like theone you posted and I would NOT let her wear it. I wouldn't even donate it.It went straight to the garbage. I also have a 3.5 yr old son and so it bothers me from both aspects. I don't want my daughter to have that negative outlook towards anyone and I don't want my little boy wondering why girls think boys are stupid.... Grrrr..... It really upsets me. My daughter will probably be a geek in Jr. High because I will probably be the only parent who won't let her dress like a hoochie. My husband is very adement about this as well. I was happy whn my daughter went to spend a week inGA with my dad and his wife. They went camping and I forgot to pack her a bathing suit....they went to the store and told her she could pick anything she wanted. She chimed in and said "no, I can't my mom wants me to have a one peice" Which she said she preferred anyway Proud mommy moment there lol
Thing is, I know folks here are cool people - but consider society in general. The fact that a chain mall chain store (e.g. the store is a chain, the mall it is in is also a chain) carries this and it's considered OK is just weird. There's a masculinist group that picketed one particular shop, but the policy was ONLY changed for that ONE store. Abercrombie and Fitch had to get rid of that "tickee shirtee" Chinese Laundry racist T-shirt from ALL its stores after the protest.
OK - have we missed a certain point here? How likely are you to find a T-shirt in a store that says "Blacks are stupid. Throw rocks at them". or "Women are stupid. Throw rocks at them." McFly? OK. Now, it's perfectly acceptable to sell T-shirts advocating hatred.
my brother used to have a beaver patrol shirt, and one of those fbi shirts, and a MYRIAD of ather "humorous" anti-female sentiments...perhaps you just dont' remember those. no, i wouldn't put one of those on my daughter under any circumstances (well, maybe if there were no other clothes for some freakish emergency). but insulting shirts are old news. it only stings when it's directed at yourself.
I think the whole "cool tshirt" movement is dumb anyway. Wanna make a statement, or just say something funny? Make a stencil and get a spray can. Its not witty and funny if someone else designed it and a thousand others have it. But in regards the whole sexist messages, its not cute, it annoying and damaging. I listen to women at work say things about men that I would get fired for saying about them. As to my daughter, she wont wear them, mainly because i wouldnt support it, but secondly because she isnt born yet and by them time she would fit them, they would be horrible out of style lol. Besides, she is wearing linen shirts and skirts we make her, thats it, she has no choice lol, until she is older that is. But hopefully, she will dress like mommy. Cant wait to hold her and love her, sweet little earth daughter.
though i DID have to buy for my younger sister a very TIGHT t-shirt that said "EW! Quit staring at my chest, pervert!!" because it was just so funny, you know, tight shirt, words clearly written to draw attention to the chest...*sigh* i guessw you had to be there.
No they're not cute, and I laugh at them, not with them. As one person already put it, they're a warning label. On another level, they're just fucking sad. As the crude shirt you mention above shows that the guy has no class and is probably compensating for *something*, the "I'm a bitch" shirts show that the girl has no class, no comprehension of what feminism is, and is probably compensating for *something* (lack of self esteem, lack of intelligence, lack of individuality, etc.). These girls have bought into the whole Spice Girls, shake-my-ass-to-get-people-to-listen-to-me type of anti-feminism. It's not empowering for anyone, it's degrading to women (as it's reinforcing old stereotypes), it's degrading to men, it's degrading to the human race. And it's fucking sad.
umm.... i am a bitch, and a feminist, and I dont' shake my ass to make people listen to me. so I have a couple of funny T's that are more self-depricating than anything, they don't insult groups of people. Thanks for that comment though, super fun. I don't much like those t's either. They aren't funny, they aren't all that original, and they're usually grossly overpriced. I'd rather have a plain T than something with that sort of crappy message, crappy art, and crappy mainstream bs.
To clarify, by saying "the "I'm a bitch" shirts", I was referring to the assortment of shirts that started the thread. The ones that insult all males for being male. Self depricating is fine, claiming the label "bitch" is cool, but insulting large groups of people is not cool and labels the wearer of that sort of shirt as a bitch in the derrogatory sense. I don't consider joking about males being "public transportation" or that "boys are stupider" to be an example of feminism. I consider that sort of attitude equivalent to the sort of sexism we're supposed to be fighting against.
