What about the Jews, man? or any other religion besides Christianity for that matter..
What about the kid who grows up Jewish.. lives his life perfectly according to his religion.. does he go to hell?
I find that hard to believe.

    sweet sufferin' ...

haven't you ever read the book _stranger in a strange land_ ?

"maybe all of man's religions are correct..."

(sometimes a martian perspective can help, mmmm?)

& trust me, folks --- not every christian is convinced that every non-christian is gonna burn in hellfire for eternity, but ymmv i suppose...

i dunno, maybe that's part of the problem with the monotheistic/abrahamic faiths -- they all have the built-in possibility of viewing every "outsider" as being destined for damnation... maybe it is an inevitable outcome of the belief system that goes something like:

only one god, one good way to god, good god, god is good, we're his chilluns (saved!) & you're not (damned!) ...

not our god, so no god, no good, if you're not on our side, you're on the other side...

    i dunno...

"my father's house has many mansions...
if it were not so, i would not have told you so...
i go to prepare a place for you..."

    shalom...

well, i supppose it is interesting to observe that bible-thumping hellfire&damnation christian fundamentalism is not restricted solely to the united states, but can be found in britain, australia, and no doubt several other english-speaking countries...

(as for Xtian books --- so, how about aldous huxley's _the perennial philosophy_ ?)

Well I agree with you. Jesus Christ is savior. Without his forgiveness, we wouldn't be free. So w/o him then we would go hell. Imagine that I'm from PA.

So if we all have our destiny planned out for us, why does God bother creating us if we are just to go to hell? I beleive that if you religion is pure and you follow it you will acheive what you beleive to be the next stage in our spirits life, whether your good and go to heaven or get rincarnated, to if your bad and you go to hell for eternity or just for a certin amount of time like purgatory... That's what i belive...but to each their own though...

Love God (in all Its forms) and He will love you...

Maybe I can help a bit... I'm a Messianic Jew who supports an advocacy group called "Jews for Jesus". Essentially, the group consists of Jewish folks that came to realize that Christ (or Yeshua, in the Hebrew) was truly the Messiah promised in the Old Testament.

Accepting Christ as savior does NOT mean that one has to lose their Jewish identity, because He, Himself, was Jewish. Jesus fulfilled every single prophecy made of His first coming in the Old Testament, and to reject the fulfillment of
G-d's promises means you've rejected salvation.

so because you believe in something that makes everyone else wrong? this is the biggest thing i hate with a lot (not all, definately no where near it) of religious people is the complete ignorance. you believe in christ and the teachings of the christian bible, so you think youre right, which is fine, thats youre belief, but what gives you the right to say other religions believers are wrong and going to hell. as an atheist who goes out with a jew and has friends ranging from christian to satanist to atheist to nothing but with buddhist ideas, i can honestly say im not an enemy of religion. but i have a severe dislike of anyone who is this ignorant when it comes to there religion. believe in what you want, but dont tell others there wrong for not believing. its a choice, and non-christ believers outnumber believers in christ.

while i dont have a lot of the torah in my head i believe the messiah was surpose to save the jews and deliver them to the holy land being israel. what of this prophecy? since youre jewish wouldnt you refer to the torah and not the christianity old testament? if the messiah had come where was the apocalypse? where was the judgement? if he fulfilled the prophecys he would have been accepted by the jewish populace during his time here. i dont denie the existance of jesus, i dont see him to be any type of messiah though. although i dont believe in god so believing in a messiah would be hard.(although i dont believe there isnt, i just have no reason to believe either way so i dont tell people theyre wrong in what they believe in, question it sometimes)

well i wouldnt go as far as saying that, while books such as the king james new testament is definately altered, saying all religious books, is quite ignorant too..

Well atropine, by virtue of you being an atheist, your affirmation is that all others who oppose your view are wrong. Maybe you're offended by the idea of a Christian who believes you'll go to Hell if you don't accept Christ, but perhaps a Christian is just as offended by your affirmation that nothing exist after death, that the Savior he thought he would meet was really just a lie. Just a thought to chew on...

... or maybe we as humans just can't possibly wrap our still-evolving brains around what the truth really is...

i mean.. what about someone born in a completely different culture, never subjected to christianity... and they just follow the beliefs of their tribe or families... they can't "choose" what they don't know exsists...

and then there's the past... before Christianity (wow, did people really exsist then??).. the Egyptians lived for thousands of years with the beliefs of many gods, and their pharaohs, they were the god-kings... or the greeks, with their many gods.... and today we just laugh at them, of course that wasn't true..

perhaps thousands of years from now the Christians will be laughed at in the same manner.. who knows.

Perhaps he sent many to show us the paths. There are many skilled teachers who have given us many similar messages. Most of any religion thinks it's the only right way. There are a few in every relgion who understand the golden thread which runs through all of them.

There is VERY little biblical support for the idea that if you don't beleive in Jesus as Christ you are going to hell. That idea came to public attention LONG after Jesus died as is based (lossely) on a couple of passages (which may or may not be accurately translated). He came to show us some truths alright, but one of his most repeated messages is not to judge. Yet so many Christians ignore this and stand in judgement anyway. He rejected the laws of his born religion, he rejected the piousness of priests and lip-service followers, he taught in the wilderness and rebelled against authority. Yes, there are many lessons to learn here... one is to listen to your heart for in each man and woman exists a path to God. This path MUST be different for each and every one of us. No one is ALL right, truth is an illusion developed to maintain control.

When I see the Bible I see illusions. I believe in God/Jesus/Buddha, but I do not think that God is correctly interpreted in the Bible. "HE" is bipolar, murderer, and a sexist...Some things in the Bible could be accurate, and when I read what Jesus has says I see the ultimate truth. Yet those mortal men that wrote the Bible got it all wrong. It has been changed, and modified to fit the whims of civilization. It is a wonderful tool to control the masses.

Jesus said this plain and clearly "Those who are PURE IN HEART, or closest to GOD".

I feel that those who do not follow Christianity, and are good people will go to heaven. I do not care what any bible thumping Christian says....Even if they try to claim that they will go to hell, they do not know.

There is something amazing about us human beings. We all need LOVE. No matter if they are some aboriginals in the deserts of Australia, or a Catholic in Italy. Love is GOD, no doubt. And love is beyond all description, just as God. Yet it is there.
All these religions, even those waaaaaaaaaaay older than Christianity were inspired by GOD. Those beautiful people felt that same feeling in there heart and soul just as we did. They felt that intense devotion, that feeling of something greater, the mastery of divinity through out their subtle existence.

Remember That. Remember the fetus in the womb.
