I am looking for some input. Tell me what you think people... tell me I am a genious or a fucking idiot; I welcome all feedback. Basically, the idea of a Cannabis union of some sort just popped into my head. Now we all know there are multitudes of organizations fighting for the legalization of MJ, but as far as I know something like this does not exist. Members would pay fees. Lets face it, nothing can be done without cash, so people would have to cough it up. The union would employ (full time) a network of attorneys. Anyone in the union that encountered legal trouble would be assisted by one of these attorneys. The attorney would travel to their city and represent them in court. This would be a great thing for many people who cannot afford defense attorneys. These legal professionals would also do everything they can, through appeals or anything else possible, to over-exert the court system... ultimately causing law reform. Our people need progressive defense. Our people need to be organized and effective if ANYTHING positive is going to happen regarding Cannabis. Another element of the union would be very progressive actions to organize ballot initiatives and bills in states. As far as I know, every state with medical MJ laws had these laws voted into place by the people. Since many many people think the MJ laws are absurb and inhumane, it is possible that in a few short years, the majority of the states could have their own medical MJ laws and/or decriminalization laws. The federal government would have to follow suit. That is how a democracy should work.
there is an organization already, called NORML and with the med MJ laws, the lines are clearly defined as to what is Recreational and MEdical...
Great idea, but illegal. The hiring of lawyers before the commission of a crime will only get the lawyer and you charged with conspiracy under the RICO Act. However I'm sure you could get covert fundng from the DEA just on the off chance they could get their hands on the membership list. It doesn't matter how many states pass those laws because we don't live in a democracy. We live in a representative republic, check it out. The Congress would have to vote it in. Good try, keep working on it bro....
Thanks for the explanation Ranger. I had no idea that in itself would be illegal. And Stonerbill, how the hell do you have so much knowledge for being only 17?
