We live in our motor home and travel the United States. We have seen many of those small motels - the ones with a few rooms around a courtyard - and think to ourselves wouldn't those make a nice small community. Each person could have a motel room, with a frig and microwave or something and the main lodge part could have a full kitchen and dining area and social area. They come up for sale every once in a while and aren't expensive. What are your thoughts?
Good idea. There are lots of those little places around from the 50s. And by the way---welcome from Oregon.
Bunch of them in Tucson too, probably holds true along most of route 66 the more I think of it I can see it now, "The Hipforums community network" or something along those lines
It would be great to see these places revived, instead of the corporate choices being foisted upon travelers these days. Make them all motor home and camper friendly with dump stations, maybe also electric recharging, etc.
They aren't too expensive. I've done a little checking and they can be had, functioning, for 20k per room.
