An idea we are exploring - small motel as community home

We live in our motor home and travel the United States. We have seen many of those small motels - the ones with a few rooms around a courtyard - and think to ourselves wouldn't those make a nice small community.

Each person could have a motel room, with a frig and microwave or something and the main lodge part could have a full kitchen and dining area and social area.

They come up for sale every once in a while and aren't expensive.

What are your thoughts?

 

Good idea. There are lots of those little places around from the 50s. And by the way---welcome from Oregon.

 

Bunch of them in Tucson too, probably holds true along most of route 66 the more I think of it
I can see it now, "The Hipforums community network" or something along those lines

 

Sounds like a good plan.

 

They aren't too expensive. I've done a little checking and they can be had, functioning, for 20k per room.
