Here's the idea - an alphabet of Divine Names. There are said to be millions of names of the Divine - let's see if we can get through the alphabet - in fact it should be possible to get through it several times - assuming the thread doesn't just die. Only one name per post please.... Feel free to post names of gurus, saints etc if you can't think of a name of God/Goddess. You can post Divine names from any tradition/belief system, not only Hinduism. Also feel free to post pics and info. Let's see how it goes..... And remember - to the Supreme we are all like small children.....
But Bhaktivedanta is not a word though , its a statement isn't it? I thought it meant the final destination for all vedanta is the development of Bhakti.
E is for Eka-Srnga - One of the early Avatars of Vishnu usually depicted as a fish, who saved Manu during the great flood. According to some Hindu traditions there was a universal flood in which all mankind with the exception of Manu were annihilated. Prior to the flood Vishnu appeared in the form of a fish - Matsya. He was caught by Manu, who later released him into the ocean after recieving instructions about the coming deluge. When the flood came. Vishnu Eka-Srnga appeared, and saved Manu, who went on to be progenitor of the new human race, as well as law-giver.
