Hello everyone. I am a solo business traveler going to amsterdam for a break from 22 Dec to 5 Jan. I would like to meet other members of this Forum who will be there during that time. I have been to Amsterdam once but I haven't had the opportunity to experience coffee shops before. I will be staying at Amsterdam American Hotel in Leidseplein. Can anyone recomend me a good coffee shop in that area...preferably within walking distance.
#1 "Dampkring" on Handboogstraat. Near the Leidseplein and one of the best in the city. A quick walk up the Liedsestraat to the Spui (pronounced "sp-ow") brings you to De Dampkring good map here: note the Liedseplein is B-9 and Dampkring is B-7
everything is within walking distance in Amsterdam.....nice hotel you got for sure! check out rookies for a coffeeshop thats plays rock and serves beer. last waterhole is also good for bands and you can smoke in there but it's not a coffeeshop, just a good bar close to you. you'll have a great time for sure. I tend to go in the spring for queens day and we have a great hipforums meetup each year. have fun!
